Vismrit Krityan ’25 — Rediscovering Forgotten Art Forms

Salwan Education Trust, in collaboration with Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA), Ministry of Culture, inaugurated Vismrit Krityan’25 at Darshanam–II Art Gallery, IGNCA, New Delhi, celebrating India’s traditional art forms through the creative expressions of students. The exhibition, held from November 1 to 5, 2025, showcased reimagined works in Pattachitra, Madhubani, and Warli, drawing nearly 3,000 visitors, including artists, educators, ministers, and international guests.

The ceremony began with a soulful invocation and lamp lighting, followed by a mesmerising sitar-tabla recital. Esteemed guests — Ms Manmohan Kaur, Padma Shri Ranjana Gauhar, Shri Benoy K. Behl, and Shri Anandamoy Banerji — shared inspiring reflections and personally engaged with the student artists.

A Gallery Walk revealed artworks that beautifully bridged heritage and innovation. From these, a curated selection has been chosen for display at IGNCA’s upcoming Soundscapes of India exhibition. Adding to this enriching experience, students had the privilege of attending a songwriting session with Padma Bhushan Javed Akhtar and also presented a classical music performance at IGNCA, highlighting their creative and cultural talents.

Vismrit Krityan ’25 stood as a vibrant tribute to India’s cultural soul and Salwan’s commitment to nurturing artistic sensitivity and heritage consciousness.
