TeachCamp 2025

ScooNews, under the visionary leadership of Ravi Santlani, organised a teacher-training camp from 20 – 22 December, 2025 at The Daly College, Indore, one of India’s most iconic and prestigious school campuses. Hundreds of teachers pan-India interacted with master trainers and thought-leaders for hands-on classroom secrets.

We became learners once again in one of the finest educational institutes of our country. The training focused on improving pedagogical skills, content knowledge, assessment practices, and the effective integration of technology in teaching–learning processes.

A SET-led initiative aimed at strengthening teachers’ professional competencies through expert guidance from subject specialists and education professionals.

                                                       ACTIVITIES CONDUCTED

The TeachCamp included a variety of engaging activities such as:

Interactive Workshops: Hands-on sessions on practical activities, active learning strategies, assessment techniques, and classroom management.

Reflection and Sharing: Experience sharing, discussions, and best practice exchange.

Expert Lectures: In-depth sessions on brain-based pedagogy.

Group Discussions and Collaboration: Team-based activities, Peer learning, and problem-solving

Workshop on Jolly Phonics

An enriching Workshop on Jolly Phonics was held on 12 November 2025 at The Prometheus School, Noida. The trainers of the workshop were Mr. Christopher Jolly (Founder and Chairman of Jolly Learning) and Ms. Shefali Juneja (Head of Training and Growth at SAAR Education) in India.

The workshop focused on the essential stages to literacy learning: Phonics – that give the basic ability to read and write, and Grammar-giving the broader skills to be able to communicate well.

It was an enriching and useful workshop which added to the practices already being practiced in Montessori classes.

Turning Pages into Perspectives: In Conversation with the Author

Salwan Public School, Gurugram, hosted an enriching author interaction session with Major General Lakhwinder Singh, author of “The Untold Kargil Story”, for the students of grades IX and XI on 17 December 2025 in the school premises. School Principal, Ms. Rashmi Malik warmly welcomed and felicitated the distinguished author, expressing the school’s pride in hosting a decorated military veteran.

General Singh shared gripping insights into the 1999 Kargil War, highlighting soldiers’ courage, strategic challenges, and the critical role of intelligence and artillery. He also reflected on the 1971 Indo-Pak War, emphasizing leadership, unity, and tactical operations. The session inspired students to consider careers in the Indian Army, explaining entry routes, training, and the values of discipline, leadership, and teamwork.

Students showed keen engagement, thoughtfully questioning military strategy and exploring life in the armed forces. The session fostered patriotism, respect for the armed forces, and motivated young minds to serve the nation.

CBSE Capacity Building Workshop on Promoting Mental Health and Wellness

Salwan Public School, Gurugram, hosted a CBSE Capacity Building Workshop on “Promoting Mental Health and Wellness among Students” on 17 December 2025 in the school auditorium. The workshop aimed to sensitize educators to students’ mental health needs and equip them with practical strategies to foster emotionally supportive learning environments.

The session commenced with a welcome address by school counsellor, Ms. Jyoti Chaudhary, who highlighted the importance of mental health awareness in schools and introduced the resource persons, Ms. Vandana Banga, Founder of Parivartan Learning Solutions and Ms. Kavita, an accountancy teacher at C.R.Model Public School. This was followed by the presentation of the green accord by the Principal, Ms. Rashmi Malik, acknowledging the school’s ongoing commitment to well-being initiatives.

The first session focused on understanding mental health in classroom contexts. Educators explored concepts such as the Iceberg Model, conscious–subconscious influence on behaviour and differentiating Hyped Versus Serious mental health concerns. Experiential activities included reflective writing, interactive videos and group enactments of case scenarios, encouraging deep engagement.The post-lunch session emphasized practical strategies for promoting mental wellness, including the 3R Framework (Rigour, Relevance, Relationship), DEAR (Drop Everything and Read), DEAM (Drop Everything and Meditate), and the Thought–Emotion–Behaviour cycle. Teachers were guided on early identification, parental engagementand fostering student skills like problem-solving, self-managementand collaboration.

The workshop witnessed enthusiastic participation from 62 teachers, concluded with a reflective exercise and a group photograph, reinforcing the pivotal role of teachers in nurturing emotionally resilient, confident and mentally healthy students, while providing actionable strategies for implementation in the classroom.

Daasta-e-Darpan — The Annual Cultural Extravaganza

Guided by its timeless ideal of nurturing character, creativity and competence, Salwan Public School, Gurugram celebrated its Annual Day 2025 on 7 December 2025. The evening transcended a conventional school gathering, reflecting cultural brilliance, intellectual vitality and collective pride.

The Chief Guest, Lt. General Surinder Singh, was ceremoniously escorted by NCC cadets, whose synchronized marching in harmony with the school band exemplified discipline and precision. A solemn floral tribute to Late Shri Shiv Dutt Salwan Ji, former Chairman Emeritus of the Salwan Education Trust, invoked a moment of deep reverence, reminding attendees of the Trust’s enduring philosophy— “Education for All.” The programme was further enriched by the gracious presence of Padma Shri Dr. Bharat Gupt and District Education Officer Capt. Indu Bokan Kasana, who were the Guest of Honour for the occasion. This was followed by the felicitation of the Chief Guest by the School Chairperson, Dr. Prasad Medury and the acknowledgement of Smt. Sukhwant Kaur for her dedicated work with the Army Wives Welfare Association (AWWA)).

The evening’s cultural highlights included a magnificent musical presentation by the school choir, blending classical sitar, western instrumentation and choral harmonies.This was followed by an Invocation Dance, paying homage to Ardhanarishvara, symbolizing the harmonious union of strength and compassion, intellect and intuition.

The Annual Report, delivered with poise by the school Principal, Smt. Rashmi Malik, outlined the school’s academic achievements, civic initiatives, environmental campaigns such as “Go Green Gurugram” and “Ek Ped Maa ke Naam,” and its rising global stature, including hosting the International Confederation of Principals Conference. The Junior School showcased, Chronicles of Enchanted Worlds and mesmerised the audience with magical storytelling and youthful exuberance.

A significant highlight was the Felicitation ofstudents excelling in sports and co-curricular arenas at the CBSE National level and SGFI. The ceremony also featured reflections by Capt. Indu Boken Kasana, who emphasized the pivotal role of parents in holistic developmentand insights by Dr. Prasad Medury, highlighting the transformative power of education. His erudition and sagacious counsel infused the gathering with an added radiance, offering direction, clarity and renewed purpose for the journey ahead.

The evening’s dramatic centrepiece, Daasta-e-Darpan: The Saga of the Enslaved Mind, presented a socio-spiritual allegory on the impact of illusion, egoand modern distractions, leaving a profound resonance with the audience. The celebration concluded with the Vote of Thanks by the school Director, Major General Surinder Singh, AVSM, SM, VSM (Retd.) memorializing the spirit of unity and pride followed by the National Anthem.

Annual Day 2025 was more than a celebration; it reaffirmed Salwan Public School’s commitment to nurturing enlightened, compassionateand future-ready citizens, where tradition meets innovation, talent meets opportunity and the spirit of Salwan shines luminously.

Embracing Self Care: A Workshop on Mental Health Awareness

Salwan Public School, Gurugram conducted an awareness session on Puberty and Menstrual health on 24 December 2025 for the girls of grade IV & V to help them understand the natural process of growing up. Ms. Deepti Sharma, a science teacher at SPS, Gurugram, explained that puberty is a gradual journey marked not only by changes in height but also by hormonal, physical, and emotional developments. Students learned about various changes such as mood swings, growth spurtsand the onset of menstruation. The session emphasised that every girl’s journey is unique, with menstruation beginning at different agesand encouraged students to seek timely support from trusted adults or medical staff.

Equally important was the focus on menstrual hygiene, which was presented as the foundation of health and dignity during this stage. Students were advised to carry supplies once they begin recognising their cycle and to practice consistent hygiene. The session concluded with a message of acceptance and gratitude, reminding students that puberty is a beautiful stage of life. By normalising menstruation and equipping children with knowledge and confidence, the session fostered awareness, resilienceand a positive attitude towards growing up.

Salwan Public School, Mayur Vihar

Educational Tour & Experiential Learning- ISRO Visit

Students of Salwan Public School, Mayur Vihar participated in a thoughtfully planned educational tour to Mahabalipuram and Chennai from 23 to 25 December, aimed at promoting experiential and interdisciplinary learning. The tour began with visits to Arjuna’s Penance, the Pandava Rathas and the Shore Temple, wherein students gained first-hand exposure to India’s rich architectural and cultural heritage.

A key highlight of the tour was witnessing the live launch of ISRO’s LVM3-M6 / BlueBird Block-2 satellite, which ignited scientific curiosity and enthusiasm among students. The itinerary also included visits to the Kapaleeshwarar Temple and the Egmore Museum, offering meaningful insights into history, art and science. Reflection activities, cultural exposure and collaborative experiences made the tour both educational and enriching.

Teachcamp 2025 – Professional Development Programme

Smt. Shalini Raheja, TGT Science and Ms. Shalini Mazumdar, PGT English, of SPSMV attended TeachCamp 2025 from 20–22 December 2025 at Daly College, Indore. The programme offered insights into brain-based learning, curiosity-driven instruction, social-emotional learning and effective lesson design, among several other contemporary education themes. Through reflective sessions, hands-on activities and interactions with education leaders, participants explored learner-centric strategies and emotionally safe classroom practices. The workshop reinforced holistic education and professional growth, equipping educators with tools to nurture confident and future-ready students.

Workshop on Indian Art And Culture

A workshop on Indian Art and Culture was organised at SPSMV on 16 December 2025. It was conducted by eminent art historian and filmmaker Prof. Benoy K. Behl. The session offered rich insights into India’s artistic and cultural heritage, highlighting Buddhist art, mural traditions of Ajanta, Bagh, and Brihadeshwara, and the assimilation of Indian deities and Sanskrit Siddham script in Japanese temple rituals. Students and teachers gained a global perspective on India’s cultural influence. The workshop concluded with an interactive question–answer session, making the learning experience engaging and enriching.

‘Triveni’ - A Cultural Odyssey’ - Annual Day 2025

Salwan Public School, TDSC celebrated its Annual Day, “TRIVENI: A Cultural Odyssey,” on 14th December 2025 at the Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyay Auditorium, Ghaziabad. The event was a breathtaking confluence of heritage and innovation, brought to life by over 350 student participants before an audience of 1,000 guests.

Highlights of the Odyssey:

  • Thematic Brilliance: The stage transformed into a moving canvas of Uttar Pradesh, featuring the spiritual energy of Ganga Aarti, the cosmic power of Shiv Tandav, and the diverse folklore of Braj and Bundelkhand.
  • Visionary Address: Principal Ms. Sunita Madan emphasized that education is a “living experience,” where students learn to research deeply and present creatively.
  • Beyond the Stage: A curated foyer exhibition showcased student-led research in STEM, Sustainability, and the NEP 2020 vision, proving that Salwanians are thinkers and innovators.
  • Dignified Presence: The event was a grand celebration of heritage, attended by an array of eminent guests. We were honored to welcome Sh. Abhinav Gopal, IAS, and Sh. Ayan Jain, IAS, alongside Dr. P. S. Brahmanand and Sh. Rajesh Singh of the National School of Drama. Joining them were proud alumni Dr. Piyush Dafauti (MBBS, MD) and G.C. Tushar Singh (IAF), whose achievements continue to inspire the next generation of students.

The Chairman, Sh. Sanjay Aggarwal Ji, concluded the evening by reminding us that education’s true purpose is to shape compassionate human beings who stay rooted while they rise. TRIVENI was not just a program; it was a celebration of identity and excellence.

Orientation Session on Delhi AI Mini Grind Programe

Salwan Public School organised an orientation session on the Delhi AI Mini Grind Program, an initiative under Delhi AI Grind, India’s first city-centric AI innovation movement. It was held on 29th December 2025 for students of Classes VI to XI. Approximately 1,000 students attended the  orientation,  which  was conducted by the Mentor  Team of   Delhi AI Grind – Dr. Shilpa Raghuvanshi Chauhan, Ms Yojna Bablani, Ms. Kalyanee Varhney, Ms. Bhavna Kaushik and Ms PriyankaAgarwal.

The programme is aimed at empowering school students to identify real-world civic problems of Delhi and design AI-driven solutions through structured mentorship, innovation, and hands-on problem solving. It effectively bridges classroom learning with community challenges, thereby nurturing future-ready innovators. The session highlighted the initiative as a mandatory activity and clearly explained the process of participation, expectations, and learning outcomes.

The interactive session motivated students to explore the potential of Artificial Intelligence and encouraged them to use technology creatively for meaningful societal impact.

Celebrating Heritage Through Hands-on Learning: Artisan Workshop on Traditional Indian Art Forms

Salwan Public School, Rajendra Nagar organised an Artisan Workshop on Traditional Indian Art Forms on 17 December 2025 in the school campus. The initiative was undertaken as part of the school’s continued efforts to promote experiential learning and cultural education. The workshop aimed to sensitise students to India’s rich artistic heritage by facilitating direct interaction with practising artisans and fostering respect for indigenous knowledge systems.

The workshop was conducted by eminent artisans Smt. Lajwanti Chabra, associated with traditional Indian art forms, and Mr. Sujit Karn, a renowned artisan known for his significant contribution to folk and traditional art.

The programme highlighted the relevance of traditional arts in contemporary education. The artisans familiarised students with the historical background, cultural significance, and distinctive techniques of various folk and traditional art forms. This was followed by live demonstrations and a guided hands-on session, allowing students to apply the learned techniques under expert supervision.

Through this engaging workshop, students from different branches of Salwan Schools gained a deeper understanding of traditional art practices, their cultural and social relevance, and the vital role artisans play in preserving heritage. The activity enhanced creativity, observation skills, patience, and appreciation for craftsmanship, while strongly promoting experiential and value-based learning.

As a continuation of this initiative, and under the Community Outreach Programme, the artisans have been invited to attend Samman Diwas being organised at SPS RN on 20 December 2025 with the objective to support, honour, and formally recognise artisans for their invaluable contribution to the preservation and promotion of India’s cultural heritage.

KMR Book Club: Nurturing Young Readers (Classes VI–VIII)

The second KMR Book Club for Classes VI–VIII successfully concluded its enriching five-session journey on 11 December 2025. Conducted online in collaboration with a dedicated team of organisers based in Singapore, the club brought together young readers in a shared virtual literary space.

Over the course of these sessions, students explored five new books, engaging in insightful reading and thought-provoking discussions that fostered a deeper appreciation for literature. Each session encouraged critical thinking, the exchange of perspectives, and meaningful connections between stories and real-life experiences. Creative activities further enabled students to express their reflections in imaginative and engaging ways.

The final meeting highlighted the collective learning, enthusiasm, and literary growth of the participants, marking a fitting culmination of this inspiring reading initiative.

Turning Waste into Responsibility: A Green Initiative by the Eco Club

Salwan Public School, Rajendra Nagar, through the dedicated efforts of its Eco Club, turned awareness into action by collecting an impressive 376 kg of plastic waste over a span of seven months. Actively involving students of Classes VI–VIII and in collaboration with Virwes Livelish Pvt. Ltd., the initiative stood as a strong step towards responsible recycling and a cleaner, greener future.

The initiative not only raised awareness about plastic pollution but also fostered lasting eco-conscious habits among students. The school looks forward to expanding this initiative further.

TeachCamp 2025: Teacher Training Programme

TeachCamp 2025, a three-day teacher training programme, was held from 20 to 22 December 2025 at Daly College, Indore. The programme was organised by SCOO NEWS in collaboration with Daly College and brought together educators from across the country for immersive professional learning. Salwan Education Trust marked its presence through two teachers from Salwan Public School, Rajendra Nagar, amongst other teachers from Salwan Schools.

The camp featured expert-led masterclasses by eminent educationists such as Dr. Gurmeet Bindra, Principal, Daly College; Dr. Bhavanishankar Subramanian, Director – Strategy, Research & Innovation, Heartfulness International Schools; Col. Gopal Karunakaran, Advisor, Shiv Nadar Foundation; Vikramjit Singh Roparai, heritage educator and author; Rouble Tuli and Shikha Dutt, education influencers; Faiz Khan, Chief Learning Officer, Skills for Us; Preethi Vickram, Founder, Tapas Progressive School; and Col. A. Shekhar, Regional Director, Universal Group of Schools.

The workshop focused on strengthening modern teaching practices on classroom effectiveness, curiosity-driven learning, competency-based education, social-emotional learning, brain-based pedagogy, and student–school relationships. Sessions were interactive, reflective, and application-oriented, enabling teachers to connect theory with real classroom practices. The participants actively engaged in the sessions through collaborative activities. Creative platforms such as Teachers Got Talent and daily reflection sessions further enriched the experience.

TeachCamp 2025 was an inspiring journey that reinforced the importance of continuous professional development and student-centred teaching practices.

Educational Visit to Kiran Nadar Museum of Art (KNMA)

Students from Classes IV and V, accompanied by their teachers, visited the Kiran Nadar Museum of Art (KNMA) at Humayun’s Tomb on Wednesday, 3rd December 2025. The visit was organised to provide students with an enriching exposure to art, culture, and visual storytelling.

During the visit, the young learners explored the captivating exhibition “Songlines: Tracking the Seven Sisters.” They observed the artworks with great curiosity and thoughtful attention, engaging actively with the themes and stories presented through indigenous art forms.

The museum visit offered a valuable opportunity for students to connect with diverse cultural narratives, understand the significance of indigenous art, and experience how stories can be expressed powerfully through visual media. The interactive environment encouraged creativity, reflection, and meaningful learning beyond the classroom. The visit was an enriching experience which imbibed students with values of discovery, imagination, and inspiration.
