
Major General Surinder Singh, AVSM, VSM, SM (Retd)
Major General Surinder Singh has been a proven military leader having distinguished service experience of four decades. Multiple challenging assignments on the Line of Control opposite Pakistan and Line of Actual Control opposite China, in counter-insurgency as well as in super high-altitude areas, have been the hallmarks of his career. An alumnus of DAV School and college Chandigarh and NDA Khadakwasla and IMA Dehradun, Gen Singh was Commissioned into Jammu & Kashmir Rifles of the Indian Army.
Having been trained on Defence Services Staff Course, Junior, Senior and Higher Command Courses, he commanded his Battalion, an Infantry Brigade and an Infantry Division in challenging field areas. He has also been the Senior Military Observer in UN Peace keeping Mission in Democratic Republic of Congo and has been the ‘Defence Attache’ in the Indian Embassy at Kabul in Afganistan. He has also been the Chief of Staff of The Strike Corps of the Indian Army and the Head of the Territorial Army of India. Major General Singh has been awarded the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal, Seva Medal and Vishisht Seva Medal during his illustrious career for his distinguished and exemplary service.
