Amrit Udyan
On 20th February 2025, the students of Class 4 from Salwan Junior School, Naraina Vihar, embarked on an enriching educational visit to Amrit Udyan, located within the Rashtrapati Bhavan premises. The visit aimed to provide students with an immersive experience of India’s rich biodiversity, exquisite flora, and the historical significance of this renowned garden.
The students, accompanied by their teachers, were welcomed by the lush greenery and a vibrant display of seasonal flowers. The meticulously designed landscape, adorned with various roses, tulips, daffodils, and marigolds, captivated their attention. The children were fascinated by the unique plant species, including medicinal and aromatic herbs, which added an educational dimension to the visit.
The students explored different garden sections, including the Circular, Long, and Bonsai Gardens. They were particularly excited to see the Musical Fountain, which enhanced the scenic beauty of the garden.
During the visit, the students were encouraged to observe and document different plants, fostering their curiosity about nature and environmental conservation. They were also given an insightful talk on the importance of maintaining ecological balance and the role of gardens in sustaining biodiversity.
The vibrant floral arrangements, the serene atmosphere, and the historical significance left a lasting impression on them. The trip was an excellent blend of learning and recreation, making it a truly memorable experience.

Basant Panchami
The festival of Basant Panchami was celebrated with great enthusiasm and devotion on 31st January 2025, Friday. The day was marked with various activities, performances, and a special assembly dedicated to Goddess Saraswati, the deity of wisdom, knowledge, and arts. The school premises were adorned with yellow decorations, symbolizing energy, prosperity, and the arrival of spring.
Special Assembly
The celebration commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp, signifying the removal of darkness and the welcoming of enlightenment. The assembly was thoughtfully planned to invoke divine blessings and highlight the cultural significance of the festival. The program included:
- Skit: A short and insightful skit was performed, depicting the importance of Goddess Saraswati and the essence of knowledge in one’s life.
- Shloka Recitation: A group of students (Tanish, Vivaan, Vihaan, and Suryansh) melodiously chanted the sacred shloka Ya Kundendu Tushar Haar Dhavala with karaoke, filling the atmosphere with devotion and serenity.
- Bhajan Performance: The soulful bhajan was presented with instrumental accompaniment:
- Anhad on the harmonium
- Nushka on the manjeera
- Suhaan with hand taal (on mat)
- Poem Recitation: Students captivated the audience with a beautiful poem highlighting the festival’s cultural and spiritual significance.
- Saraswati Vandana: A mesmerizing performance of Saraswati Vandana was rendered by Ayesha, Kavya, and Aanya with karaoke.
- Choir Performance: The school choir performed the Sanskrit hymn Jaye Jaye Hey Bhagwati Sur Bharti, paying homage to the goddess of wisdom.
- School Song: The entire school joined in singing Hey Sharde Maa, adding to the spiritual fervor of the event.
Craft Activities
To engage students in the festive spirit, a series of craft activities were organized across different grades:
- Class IV & V: Students participated in a Paper Kite Making activity. Using yellow sheets, strings, kulfi sticks, glue, and glitter, they created vibrant kites, decorating them with messages and wishes.
- Class II & III: The young artists crafted beautiful bookmarks featuring Saraswati symbols such as the veena, swan, and Saraswati mantra, using yellow sheets and markers.
- Class I: A special Veena Decoration activity was conducted where students coloured and adorned veena outlines using various decorative materials.
- Class KG: Children enjoyed a cotton dabbing activity, creating lovely floral designs.
- Class Nursery: The tiny tots enthusiastically participated in a Yellow Flower Making activity using balloons and paints, resulting in delightful artwork.
Prasad Distribution
As a traditional offering, students were served yellow sweet rice as prasad, symbolizing prosperity and the blessings of Goddess Saraswati. The joy and excitement on their faces reflected their deep-rooted connection to the festival.
The Basant Panchami celebration was a beautiful blend of devotion, creativity, and cultural learning. It provided students with an opportunity to appreciate the significance of the festival while engaging in activities that enriched their artistic and spiritual expression. The day concluded on a joyful note, leaving everyone with a sense of enlightenment and festive cheer.

Annual Presentation – Class I
The students of Class I put up a mesmerizing Annual Presentation on 15th February at the school foyer, themed “Our Planet, Our Future.” The event aimed to highlight the importance of environmental conservation and sustainable living.
The program commenced with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony, followed by a warm welcome speech by the young hosts, who expressed their excitement in presenting a meaningful dance-drama. The presence of the Principal, Director, teachers, parents, and distinguished guests added to the significance of the occasion.
The main event was an engaging theatrical performance that beautifully depicted the state of the environment and the urgent need for change. The dance ballet, poetry recitation, and dramatic scenes showcased the consequences of pollution, deforestation, and climate change, reinforcing the message of environmental responsibility.
Students portrayed divine characters from Indian mythology, where rivers and nature deities expressed their distress over human negligence. Through powerful dialogues and enactments, they emphasized the importance of protecting our natural resources. The segment was further enriched with songs and dances like “Na Kato Mujhe Dukhta Hai” and “Earth is My Home”, stirring a deep sense of responsibility among the audience.
A special news segment brought a modern touch to the theme, where young reporters presented alarming facts about climate change, pollution, and environmental degradation. Inspired by young climate activists like Greta Thunberg, the students urged everyone to take small yet significant steps to preserve the planet.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks, acknowledging the efforts of teachers, parents, support staff, and students in making the presentation a grand success. The Principal and Guest of Honour applauded the children for their exceptional performances and encouraged them to be guardians of the Earth.
With 100% student participation, the event left a lasting impact, instilling values of environmental stewardship in the young minds.

Medical Check-up for Students Nursery to V by Health Set Go
Salwan Junior School, in collaboration with Health Set Go, organized a Medical Check-up for students from 17th to 19th February 2025. The initiative aimed at ensuring the well-being of our young learners by assessing essential health parameters.
Students underwent thorough health examinations conducted by medical professionals, focusing on overall physical well-being. This check-up was an important step toward promoting health awareness among children and ensuring early detection of any concerns that may require attention.
Parents were encouraged to ensure their child’s participation, and consent forms were collected in advance. The school appreciates the support of parents in fostering a healthy environment for our students.

Annual Day Presentation – Class Kindergarten
The Kindergarten students of Salwan Junior School captivated the audience with their enchanting Annual Day presentation, The Secret of the Jungle, a rhythmic blend of storytelling, melodious songs, and vibrant dances.
The program commenced with a warm welcome, setting the stage for an exciting journey into a magical forest where animals talk and teach valuable life lessons. The young performers beautifully brought the jungle to life, donning colourful costumes and embodying various animals, including a peacock, elephant, deer, monkey, sparrow, and parrot. Through engaging dialogues and graceful performances, they highlighted the importance of nature, unity, and environmental conservation.
The story followed a lost child who meets friendly jungle animals, each showcasing their unique characteristics through lively rhymes and dance sequences. The animals come together to address an environmental issue—pollution caused by human negligence. The heartwarming message of sustainability and preserving forests resonated with the audience, reinforcing the significance of Sustainable Development Goal 15 (Life on Land).
The grand finale featured a lively dance performance, followed by a touching conclusion where the child, upon finding his way home, pledges to protect nature and spread awareness. The event concluded with the inspiring words, “Protect Our Jungles. Protect Our Future.”
A special thanks to our dedicated teachers, supportive parents, and, most importantly, our talented little performers who made this event a grand success. Their enthusiasm and confidence on stage truly reflected the spirit of learning through creativity.

Inter-Class Mathematics Quiz for Classes I and II
“Mathematics is the key to understanding the world and unlocking new possibilities.”
The eagerly anticipated Inter-Class Mathematics Quiz for Classes I and II was held on Friday, February 7, 2025, igniting an atmosphere of excitement and healthy competition. Students participated enthusiastically, showcasing their problem-solving skills and passion for mathematics.
Event Structure and Rounds
The quiz featured four rounds for Class I and five rounds for Class II, with each team consisting of four students. The event tested not only mathematical abilities but also strategic thinking, teamwork, and quick reflexes.
Round 1: Direct Question Round
Quiz Masters Ms Harveen (Class I) and Ms Bhawna Yadav (Class II) kicked off the event with direct questions to the teams. This round focused on core mathematical concepts, and students impressed the audience with their clear, prompt answers, reflecting strong foundational knowledge.
Round 2: Audio-Visual Round
This round incorporated multimedia content, where students used audio and visual clues to solve mathematical problems. The innovative format challenged their ability to apply concepts in real-world scenarios, making it an engaging experience for both participants and the audience.
Round 3: Take a Pick
Teams strategically selected questions from different categories, and their responses were evaluated based on accuracy and approach. The variety of questions tested the depth of their knowledge, making this a particularly competitive round.
Round 4: Buzzer Round
This high-energy round saw teams racing to hit the buzzer first and deliver correct answers. It emphasized speed, presence of mind, and accuracy under pressure, adding to the thrill of the event.
Bonus Round: Shape Design Challenge (Class II only)
An exciting addition for Class II, this round provided each team with shape cutouts and tasked them with creating a unique design within 10 minutes. A countdown timer was displayed on the screen, heightening the challenge. Teams were judged on creativity and awarded marks out of 10. This round encouraged imaginative thinking alongside mathematical understanding.
Audience Round: Toffees for Thought
The audience remained actively engaged throughout the quiz. After each round, questions were posed to the audience, focusing on everyday mathematical concepts. Correct answers were rewarded with toffees, ensuring the event was interactive and enjoyable for all attendees.

Report on MCD science fair
On February 19 2025, our school participated in the MCD Science Fair, a national-level science fair held at Nagar Pratibha Vidyalaya , Karampura. We are proud to announce that our students excelled in this event, securing the first position.
Our school was represented by the following students:

The science fair witnessed participation from approximately 80 schools. Our students demonstrated exceptional scientific acumen and creativity, impressing the judges and audience alike. The students’ outstanding performance was attributed to their innovative exhibits, which included:
A Teaching-Learning Material (TLM) in Language, showcasing a storyboard that creatively narrated a story. The storyboard was carefully crafted to demonstrate how visual aids can be used to inculcate reading and writing skills among children. By using this storyboard, the students beautifully explained to the guests how it helps to develop language skills in a fun and engaging way. A Mathematics exhibit, “Number Ninjas,” which demonstrated mathematical concepts in an engaging and interactive manner. This model helped in teaching basic mathematical concepts in the classroom, making learning a enjoyable experience. The children confidently explained the concept to the guests present, showcasing their grasp of mathematical fundamentals.

Report: In-Class Hindi Extempore Activity
“Confidence comes not from always being right but from not fearing to be wrong.” – Peter T. McIntyre An engaging and lively In-Class Hindi Extempore activity was conducted on 07 February 2025 for students of Classes III to V. The objective was to inspire students to think spontaneously and express their thoughts confidently in Hindi. The session began with the distribution of interesting and age-appropriate topics by the teachers. Each student randomly picked a topic and enthusiastically shared their thoughts in front of their peers. From imaginative stories to thoughtful reflections, their responses showcased creativity and growing confidence. The non-competitive environment encouraged active participation, fostering a positive learning atmosphere. Teachers guided and motivated students, helping them improve their communication skills. The session concluded successfully, leaving students proud of their efforts and more confident in expressing themselves in Hindi.

Report on Spell Bee Competition
The Spell Bee competition was conducted for students of Classes I to V on 31st January 2025. This engaging and intellectually stimulating event aimed to enhance students’ spelling skills, enrich their vocabulary, and boost their confidence in English language proficiency.
The competition was structured in such a way which helped in testing the students’ ability to listen carefully and identify the correct spelling of words. Participants actively engaged in the event, demonstrating enthusiasm and a keen interest in learning new words. The activity helped strengthen their linguistic abilities while making the process of learning spellings enjoyable.
Students displayed excellent performance, with some emerging as top scorers. The competition was a great platform to encourage healthy competition and reinforce the importance of correct spelling in communication. The event concluded with words of encouragement from the teachers, motivating students to continue developing their vocabulary and language skills.
Overall, the Spell Bee competition was a great success, fostering a love for words and learning among young learners.
