‘Desh Aur Hum 3.0’ – Sachet Bharat, Samriddh Bharat

Empowering Nation Building Through Tax Awareness

The National Academy of Direct Taxes (NADT), in collaboration with Salwan Education Trust, successfully hosted the annual event ‘Desh Aur Hum 3.0’ – Sachet Bharat, Samriddh Bharat on Friday, 17 January 2025, at Kedarnath Sahni Auditorium, New Delhi. This flagship initiative by the Income Tax Department emphasized the significance of taxation in India’s growth while encouraging young minds to contribute to nation-building. With participation from over 1,500 schools across the country, the event featured engaging competitions such as AD Mad Show, poster designing, poetry recitation, and more, fostering creativity and awareness among students. The ceremony was graced by esteemed dignitaries:

Smt. Sonia Wadhwa, Technology Integration Specialist at Salwan Education Trust, and Smt. Neelima Goyal, TGT Computer Science at Salwan Public School, Mayur Vihar, showcased their expertise at BETT UK 2025, one of the world’s leading events on educational technology, held from January 22nd to 24th, 2025.

The conference spotlighted emerging trends such as AI-driven tools, AR/VR applications, adaptive learning, and the importance of digital inclusivity and sustainable education practices.

Smt. Wadhwa was honored at the Microsoft Booth, where she delivered a compelling keynote on “Rethinking Exams and Feedback for Today’s Learner.” Meanwhile, Smt. Goyal actively contributed to discussions on DIEA (Diversity, Inclusion, Equity, and Accessibility) policies, reinforcing the school’s commitment to progressive education.

CBSE Workshop on ‘Stress Management’

A Stress Management Workshop was held at JD Tytler School, Munirka, on Saturday, 18th January 2025, aimed at equipping educators with effective tools to manage stress. The session was conducted by Smt. Neera, a Senior Educator with over 33 years of experience, and Smt. Sakshi, an Associate Professor at Rishihood University. They delivered an engaging and highly informative session focused on practical strategies for managing stress.

Shri Vinod Thakur (TGT Sports) and Smt. Rani Sayal (PRT Sports) from Salwan Public School, Mayur Vihar (SPS.MV) attended the insightful session.

The workshop covered impactful stress management techniques, including mindfulness and relaxation practices, and was presented in an interactive and relatable manner, making it both insightful and engaging. Creative Story-Making and Poster Activity activities were also conducted, where participants expressed their understanding of stress and relaxation through visual and narrative forms. This hands-on activity allowed participants to reflect on the session’s teachings while expressing their creativity.

The workshop was a valuable opportunity for educators to gain practical insights into managing stress, fostering better well-being in their professional and personal lives.

Collaborative Initiative by Mahattattva and Samsung

An online training session was conducted exclusively for educators from the IT department on 20th December 2024, 10th January, and 17th January 2025. The sessions were led by Ms. Deepti Sawhney, CEO and Founder of Mahattattva, as part of the Samsung Galaxy Empowered Program. This initiative aimed to enhance teaching skills and integrate technology in the classroom.

The session covered several key highlights, including the integration of 21st-century skills like critical thinking, exploring the role of AI in education for greater inclusivity, and fostering digital leadership and classroom innovation.

Educators were empowered to align their teaching practices with the latest technological advancements, creating a collaborative and future-ready approach to education. The training provided valuable insights on how technology can be harnessed to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes.

Lohri Celebrations at SPS MV

Salwan Public School, Mayur Vihar (SPS MV) celebrated the joyous festival of Lohri with enthusiasm and warmth on Monday, 13th January 2025. The festivities commenced with the lighting of the traditional Lohri bonfire by Director Sir and Principal Ma’am, symbolizing the spread of happiness and positivity for all attendees.

Staff and students gathered around the bonfire, basking in the serene and joyful atmosphere of the occasion. Traditional snacks like peanuts, popcorn, and rewari were distributed, further elevating the festive spirit.

The celebration was a beautiful reflection of Lohri’s essence—expressing gratitude for nature’s bounty and sharing hopes for a prosperous future. The event brought the school community together in a spirit of togetherness, joy, and optimism for the year ahead.

National Progressive Schools Conference

Smt. Bhawna Puri (Vice Principal) and Smt. Sujata Verma (PRT Computer Science) from Salwan Public School, Mayur Vihar (SPS MV) had the privilege of attending the National Progressive Schools Conference and Adobe Leadership Conclave at the Adobe Building, Sec – 132, Noida, on 29th January 2025.

The conference began with insightful speeches by Mr. Armstrong Pame, Director of Education, and Mr.Budha Chandrashekhar, CCO, AICTE, Ministry of Education. This was followed by a chat session featuring Mr. Bhaskar Basu (Sr. Director, Microsoft) and Ms. Garima (Country Head – Education & Skills, Adobe).

Panel discussions focused on the emerging AI tools by Adobe, aimed at fostering creative and design thinking. The event concluded with an informative discussion on integrating Adobe Express tools with Google Classroom, highlighting their practical applications in education.

Overall, the experience was enriching, offering valuable insights into the evolving role of AI and digital tools in transforming education.

National Voters’ Day

A pledge ceremony was organised to mark National Voters’ Day, where the teaching and non-teaching staff, along with the HR and Accounts teams, reaffirmed their commitment to upholding the sanctity of democratic processes. The event highlighted the significance of voting as a fundamental right and a vital responsibility in shaping the nation’s future.

Through the pledge, participants resolved to foster awareness about the power of voting and to actively encourage greater electoral participation within their communities. The ceremony served as a powerful reminder of the critical role every individual plays in strengthening democracy.

Republic Day Celebrations

The 76th Republic Day of India was celebrated with great zeal at SPS MV, on Friday, 24 January 2025. The event began with the unfurling of the National Flag by the Principal and Headmistress, followed by the National Anthem and a soulful morning prayer.

A heartfelt poem and an inspiring speech by students of the middle wing highlighted the significance of the day. The school choir and the dance team performed, showcasing unity and India’s cultural diversity. The Principal addressed the gathering, encouraging students to uphold democratic values. The celebration concluded with a message of patriotism, urging everyone to contribute to a progressive India.

Talent Show 2024 -2025

Parnika Chandra of Class XI achieved the 2nd Position in ‘Talent Show 2024 -2025’ Award Ceremony. The All-India Theatre Artist Council (AITAC), Haryana, in collaboration with the Prounnati Foundation NGO, organised the event on Monday, 11 November 2024. Parnika showcased her exceptional skill in the Light Music Vocal category, captivating both the judges and the audience with her melodious performance. Her remarkable achievement is a testament to her hard work and dedication. Winners were honoured in the presence of distinguished guests, making the occasion even more memorable.

Webinar On ‘Best Practices For Educators and Learners of Physics’

Under the aegis of  Salwan Education Trust, Ms. Vani Ranga, PGT Physics, SPS Rajender Nagar shared her valuable insights from a workshop conducted by Dr. H.C. Verma in December focusing on practical experiments and activities for Classes IX–XII for the science faculty on Thursday, 09 January 202.

A discussion on measuring the resistance of an incandescent lamp using a multimeter, comparing experimental and theoretical values, and exploring the variation of resistance with temperature was held. The session concluded with engaging activities in electrostatics, including moving a scale with a charged balloon, moving a bottle cap through body heat, and exploring the role of frictional force in a bicycle.

Webinar on ‘Herbal Heritage and Skill Development’

A webinar on ‘Herbal Heritage and Skill Development’ was organized by Salwan Education Trust and facilitated by Smt. Sunita Madan, Principal of Salwan Public School, Trans Delhi Signature City, for teachers of VI to VIII across all Salwan Schools, on Thursday, 9th January 2025.

The webinar aimed to enhance teachers’ understanding of India’s rich herbal heritage and explore ways to integrate it into skill development courses for middle school students. The session began with an overview of India’s herbal traditions and their relevance in modern education, followed by creative strategies for classroom projects like herbal gardens and medicinal plant exploration.

Interactive discussions encouraged teachers to think of ways to incorporate herbal concepts into science and environmental studies, making learning more engaging and relevant. The webinar also included practical demonstrations on the live preparation of simple herbal remedies, which could be applied in the classroom setting.

Emphasis was placed on promoting sustainability, problem-solving skills, and health awareness through the integration of herbal education, encouraging students to make informed choices for a better future.

A webinar on ‘Learning Outcomes and Pedagogies’ was organized by Salwan Education Trust and facilitated by Smt. Priyanka Barara, Principal of Salwan Public School, Rajendra Nagar, on Thursday, 9th January 2025, for teachers of IX to XII across all Salwan schools.

The webinar aimed to provide valuable insights into defining and achieving effective learning outcomes in the classroom. It emphasized that a learning outcome is a specific statement of what a student should know and demonstrate after completing the learning process. Unlike teaching objectives, which reflect the teacher’s intentions, learning outcomes focus on students’ actual achievements.

The session highlighted the essential learning domains: cognitive, affective, and psychomotor. It also underscored the importance of clearly defined learning outcomes, ensuring that students’ progress is accurately measured and aligned with educational goals.

Webinar on ‘Re-inventing Early Years Through New Perspectives’

A workshop on ‘Re-inventing Early Years Through New Perspectives’ was organized by Salwan Education Trust on Friday, 10th January 2025, for teachers of Nursery to II. Ms. Sona Gombar, Headmistress of SMS Gurugram, was the resource person for the session.

The session delved into understanding children’s developmental needs and explored the functions of brain intelligence, including attention, processing memory, and retention. A significant part of the workshop focused on cultivating curiosity in the classroom. Teachers actively participated by sharing various methods to arouse curiosity among learners.

Towards the end, a question-and-answer session covered a wide range of topics, including assessments, the integration of AI in education, sustainability, building capacity, Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN), and action research.

Overall, the workshop equipped educators with practical insights and strategies to build dynamic, inclusive, and future-ready classrooms, fostering the holistic development of students.

Youth Eco Summit

Two students of SPS MV from Class IX, Gauri Bhardwaj and Bhavya Singh, created a remarkable miniature model of the Ram Mandir using e-waste for the Youth Eco Summit, organised by the Bajaj Co-Foundation.

Their innovative effort earned them a spot among the top 20 entries, showcasing their creativity and commitment to sustainability.
