Celebrating Creative Excellence in Children’s World magazine
The school takes immense pride in acknowledging Avleen Kaur and Saksham Bidani of Class XI-A, for being honoured with a place on the Roll of Honour in the “Your Pages Competition 2024”.
This annual writing event, organised by Children’s World magazine, showcases the creative and literary brilliance of young minds from across the country. Avleen and Saksham’s exceptional entries stood out amongst numerous submissions, reflecting their profound creativity, dedication, and command over the art of writing.

Delhi State School Games - Flipping to Glory!
The Girls’ Under-17 Gymnastics team redefined grace and grit at the Delhi State School Games, organized by the Directorate of Education, Sports Branch, Delhi, from 10th to 13th December 2024, at I.G. Indoor Stadium, Delhi. The girls captivated the audience with their stunning performances and unshakable spirit, earning them an impressive Second Position in the competition.

Appreciating New Age Technology
Students from Classes IX and XI attended a two-hour session at Netaji Subhas University of Technology (NSUT) on December 19, 2024. It was conducted by Dr. Dhananjay V. Gadre, Director of the TI Centre for Embedded Product Design, who demonstrated Colour Sensors using AI/ML.
Dr. Gadre showcased a range of innovative prototypes, which captivated the students and sparked their curiosity. Students engaged actively, asking thoughtful questions throughout the session. Dr. Gadre explained complex concepts in a simple and relatable manner, linking artificial intelligence with physics, and offering real-world examples that made the material more accessible.
The session not only enhanced the students’ understanding of STEM but also inspired them to explore careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. It was an impactful and motivating experience that left a lasting impression on all attendees.

Born in 1929 during pre-partition India, Shiv Dutt Salwan emerged as a beacon of resilience and a paragon of virtues. Even as a young boy of eleven, he demonstrated remarkable courage by participating in a Satyagraha against censorship, enduring imprisonment for his principles. Despite personal tragedies, including losing his elder brother to communal violence, he remained committed to positive change. Driven by his father’s mission, ‘Education for All’, Shri Shiv Dutt Salwan founded nine schools in Delhi NCR that are providing quality education with equal opportunities to over 12,000 students. His educational philosophy was based on the confluence of ‘Three Hs’ – Head, Heart, and Hand- for promoting holistic development of learners. He championed inclusivity through initiatives such as the Salwan Marathon, wherein children with diverse abilities participated zealously. A true patriot and nationalist, Shiv Dutt Ji provided impetus for creating pathways which have shaped today’s resurgent India. Under his visionary leadership, the Salwan group of schools have celebrated Samman Diwas to honour the brave soldiers of our armed forces, extended support for Kashmiri migrants during turbulent times, and pioneered environmental sustainability by spearheading green initiatives. His steadfast commitment to educational excellence extended beyond academics to nurturing compassionate, socially responsible, enlightened citizens. His life remains a testament to the power of perseverance, empathy, and unwavering dedication to quality education. Dastangoi: A Mesmerizing Celebration of Art, Culture, and Heritage
Students of Salwan Public School Rajendra Nagar paid a heartfelt tribute to the school’s visionary founder, Pandit Girdhari Lal Salwan, and the esteemed Chairman Emeritus, Late Shri Shiv Dutt Salwan, through an enchanting performance of ‘Dastangoi’, on the occasion of Felicitation Ceremony held at SPS Gurugram on 28 December, 2024.
The exceptional performances by the students – Dhwani, Prashant, Vaishnavi, and Akshansh – captivated the audience, earning them a thunderous applause and leaving everyone spellbound. With its poetic grace, melodic rhythm, and profound emotional resonance, Dastangoi wove intricate narratives that deeply moved the spectators, creating a lasting impression.
The event’s vibrant and energetic ambiance showcased the school’s unwavering dedication to fostering artistic talent and celebrating excellence in all its forms. This Dastangoi performance was more than an artistic showcase. It stood as a powerful reflection of the collaborative spirit among students, educators, and the school community. The performance will undoubtedly be remembered as a cherished celebration of cultural heritage, inspiring future generations to honour and preserve their artistic and cultural legacy.

SDG Showcase: A Celebration of Heritage, Culture, and Responsibility
The Social Science Department, in collaboration with the Heritage and MUN Clubs, organised a dynamic event for students of Classes 5-8, blending creativity, learning, and cultural preservation on 23 December, 2024.
Key Highlights of the showcase are:
Youth Parliamentary Session: The MUN Club facilitated debates on women’s safety bills, showcasing students’ analytical and legislative skills. Winners will be honoured in a special assembly.
Madhubani Art Workshop: Guided by a professional artisan, students created stunning artwork, reflecting India’s traditional artistry.
Millet Awareness: Delicious millet laddoos promoted sustainable food practices and healthy living.
Historical Board Games: Student-designed games brought India’s history to life, making learning interactive and fun.
Weavers’ Exhibition: Local artisans showcased and sold handcrafted items, connecting students to traditional crafts and their cultural importance.
This vibrant event blended heritage, innovation, and sustainability, leaving students inspired to value and preserve India’s rich legacy.

A step towards Global Collaboration:
Salwan Public School proudly hosted a delegation of esteemed educators from around the world as part of the preparations for the International Confederation of Principals (ICP) 2025 on 28 November 2024. Following India’s successful bid to host the event, the school warmly welcomed Ms Sofia Hughes from Argentina, Mr Leendert-Jan Veldhuyzen (VO-raad) from the Netherlands, and Ms. Linda Ann Benwel from South Africa.
During their visit, the delegates were introduced to India’s rich cultural heritage and were given a tour of the school’s scenic campus. They were impressed by the school’s unique public-private partnership model, with Salwan Boys’ Senior Secondary School and Salwan Girls’ Senior Secondary School, established in 1949 and 1950 respectively. This integration exemplifies educational practices, fostering a supportive learning environment and a commitment to excellence.
The delegates also had the opportunity to interact with students and witness innovative STEM-based projects that have gained national and international recognition. The visit also showcased the school’s award-winning teaching practices, including gamified learning activities. A notable feature was the Heritage Panel, a student-led initiative that celebrates India’s cultural diversity through artefacts and indigenous art forms like Warli, Mandala, and Madhubani.
The visit included an engaging aerobic session with teachers. Accompanied by faculty members Ms. Ritu Mehta and Ms. Kriti Arora, the delegates visited Agra, marvelling at the Taj Mahal and Agra Fort. The visit strengthened global ties and fostered collaboration and cultural exchange between educators from around the world.

Salwan Public School Teachers Participate in the NEP 2020 Event
Salwan Public School, led by Principal Ms. Priyanka Barara and senior teachers, participated in a significant gathering of over 400 educators and school leaders at LG House, Delhi, on December 20, 2024. The event focused on discussions related to the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
The event commenced with a serene prayer rendition by the students of Salwan Public School, adding a spiritual touch to the gathering. Focused on addressing the challenges faced by public schools in implementing the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the event brought together educators for a series of impactful discussions.
Shri Sushil Dutt Salwan, Chairman Salwan Education Trust, highlighted the challenges public schools in Delhi have encountered over the past decade. He urged the Honourable Lieutenant Governor to address these issues, ensuring better support for schools striving to align with NEP 2020.
The event included engaging discussion on key topics such as FAR in public schools, establishment of new age and technology-driven training centres for teachers to handle and assist the learners of today, cyber safety, EWS inclusion, infrastructure improvements, and the need for schools to have autonomy in decisions such as closures during pollution breaks. Additionally, strategies to manage hoax bomb threats and enhance collaboration between educational institutions and the police department were explored.
Teachers from Salwan Public School made active contributions throughout the sessions, demonstrating their dedication to fostering innovative and inclusive learning environments. NCF SE 2023 Workshop
A workshop on NCF SE 2023 was conducted by Ms. Jyotsna Grover, Vice Principal on 28 December, 2024 for teachers in the school library. The workshop aimed to familiarize teachers with the National Curriculum Framework for School Education (NCF SE) 2023, emphasizing its significance in shaping the future of education.
Ms. Jyotsna Grover provided a comprehensive overview of the NCF SE 2023, highlighting its core principles, objectives, and framework. The workshop featured engaging discussions and brainstorming sessions, allowing participants to share their perspectives and gain insights from peers. Participants gained a deeper understanding of the NCF SE 2023 and its implications for teaching and learning. Various schools of thought such as Prayoga, Adhyana, Manan and Anubhav were discussed with examples. Participants were apprised with cross-cutting themes for shaping a holistic education, with a focus on rootedness in Indian values, ethics, inclusion and environmental awareness.
The workshop was highly informative and engaging. Ms. Jyotsna Grover’s expertise and guidance were invaluable in understanding of the NCF SE 2023.

Exploring Beyond Classrooms
Salwan Public School remains committed to enriching students’ learning experiences beyond traditional classroom boundaries. On December 13, 2024, a group of students embarked on an educational visit to Pearl Academy, Rajouri Garden—a premier institution in design and creative arts.
The visit provided an in-depth exploration of creative fields such as fashion design, makeup artistry, craft and product design, app development, modeling, and broadcasting. Students explored the academy’s advanced facilities, including fashion studios, makeup labs, design workshops, and broadcasting suites. A key highlight was a hands-on tie-dye workshop, where students learned techniques to create their own unique designs.
This engaging experience aimed to inspire students to delve into creative career paths, nurture their artistic potential, and gain valuable insights into the dynamic world of design and creative industries.

Exploring Futures in Real Estate and Construction
Salwan Public School, in collaboration with RICS Amity University, hosted an enlightening orientation program on Construction and Management Courses on December 3, 2024
Students explored the evolving landscape of sustainable construction, smart technologies, and urban infrastructure, with a focus on the BBA in Real Estate and Urban Infrastructure (BBA REUI). The session highlighted opportunities in urban planning, project management, and infrastructure development.
The students were motivated to adopt innovation and sustainability as key drivers for shaping the future of real estate and construction.

Celebrating 50 Years Reunion of Old Students
Honouring Salwan’s proud legacy, our esteemed alumni returned to their alma mater to relive cherished memories of their school days on 30 November 2024, commemorating 50 years since their journey at this prestigious institution began.
They engaged with the Prefectorial Board, sharing heartfelt stories of their time at the school. The students were inspired by the alumni’s experiences, learning valuable lessons about perseverance, the importance of staying connected to one’s roots, and the impact of holistic education on personal and professional success. This interaction also instilled in them a deeper appreciation for their school’s legacy and the values it upholds.

Designing Dreams: A Workshop by JD Institute
The JD Institute of Fashion Technology conducted an inspiring design workshop in the school library, offering students a glimpse into the dynamic world of design on 10 December 2024.
Sushri Prerna Kalra from the admissions team kickstarted the session with an engaging presentation about the institute’s state-of-the-art campus, award-winning legacy, and diverse courses like Interior, Graphic, Communication, and Fashion Designing. She highlighted top placements with brands like H&M, Tommy Hilfiger, and Tarun Tahiliani, along with success stories of alumni, sparking excitement among students.
The highlight of the workshop was a hands-on session led by Smt. Bharti Mishra, Senior Professor of Textile and Fashion Design. Students explored the basics of weaving and sewing, bringing creativity to life through practical learning.
