CBSE Workshop on ‘Promoting Mental Health & Wellness among Students’

The school hosted a workshop for teachers on Promoting Mental Health and Wellness among Students, organised by CBSE on 3rd October 2025. The workshop was conducted by Ms Archana Narain, Principal, The Indian Heights School and Ms. Deepa Arora, PGT English, SD Public School.

The session focused on the importance of prioritising emotional well-being of the students, alongside academics. The resource person conducted various activities to help teachers explore strategies such as:

  • identifying early signs of stress, anxiety, and burnout
  • encouraging open conversations to break stigma
  • fostering resilience and coping skills in students
  • promoting peer support networks and student-led initiatives
  • incorporating mindfulness and relaxation techniques in classrooms
  • balancing screen time and digital wellness
  • nurturing teacher well-being as a foundation for student wellness

The interactive session empowered teachers to apply practical strategies for creating safe, supportive, and happy classrooms. It concluded with an emphasis on the fact that mental well-being is essential for holistic development.

Empowering Green Minds

Teachers from Salwan Public School, Rajendra Nagar attended training programmes organized by the Mahatma Gandhi Institute for Combating Climate Change (MGICCC), Government of NCT of Delhi, at Bakoli, Alipur. The initiatives aimed to promote awareness of waste management and renewable energy solutions through experiential learning.

On 8th October 2025, a session on Plastic Waste Management was conducted by Dr. Ashish Jain, Founder and Director, IPCA. He emphasized the importance of responsible plastic disposal, waste segregation for recycling, and discussed government policies, implementation challenges, and the plastic collection chain.

On 9th October 2025, teachers attended a session on Solar Energy for Sustainable Development, addressed by Prof. Mukesh Rana (DU), Dr. Anamika Thakur (ICAR), and Dr. Narendra Kumar (Swalamban, Delhi). The session focused on solar PV and thermal technologies, and highlighted national initiatives such as the National Solar Mission and PM-KUSUM, reflecting the vision of “One Sun, One World, One Grid.”

These sessions enriched teachers’ understanding of sustainable practices and renewable energy innovations, aligning with the school’s commitment to environmental stewardship.

Rocketry Workshop for Classes III to V

The school organised Rocketry Workshop for students of Classes III to V on 13th October 2025, duly mentored by experts from Starscapes Experiences. The workshop aimed to introduce young learners to the fascinating world of rocketry and space exploration.

The key highlights of the workshop included:

  • Hands-on Experience: Students designed and built their own model rockets using various materials, gaining practical experience in aerodynamics and engineering.
  • Scientific Concepts: The workshop covered basic scientific concepts, such as thrust, propulsion, and gravity, helping students understand the principles behind rocket flight.
  • Teamwork and Collaboration: Students worked in teams to design, build, and launch their rockets, promoting teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • The Launch: The culmination of the workshop was the thrilling launch in the presence of the Principal Ms. Priyanka Barara and Head (Primary) Ms. Rashi Oberoi, where students witnessed their creations soar into the sky.
  • The Rocketry Workshop provided a unique and engaging learning experience for the young students.
