Baisakhi Special Assembly Report

Salwan Junior School – Foyer
Conducted by Class V A & B

The spirit of festivity and cultural pride resonated through the corridors of Salwan Junior School as the students of Class V A and B came together to present a vibrant and meaningful Baisakhi Special Assembly.

The assembly commenced on a divine note with the soulful rendition of the Shabad “Shubh Karman Te Kabhoon Na Daru”, setting a spiritual tone for the celebration. Following this, the young anchors enlightened the audience about the festival of Baisakhi — its origins, how and when it is celebrated, and its profound significance, especially in Punjab’s rich cultural heritage.

The students highlighted the historic importance of this day, marking the formation of the Khalsa by Guru Gobind Singh Ji in 1699 through the ceremony of Amrit with the Panj Pyare. To honour this sacred occasion, another melodious Shabad was presented, bringing a serene and devotional feel to the atmosphere.

Adding a creative twist to the event, the students performed an engaging skit. Styled as a live broadcast from Salwan News Studio, the skit featured student-reporters interviewing farmers from different states across India. Each farmer spoke about the unique harvest festivals celebrated in their region alongside Baisakhi, such as Bihu, Vishu, Poila Boishakh, and Puthandu, all observed around 13th April. The segment emphasized the cultural diversity of India and the universal importance of harvest festivals.

The farmers also delivered a powerful message — urging everyone to respect food and never waste it, reminding the audience of the tremendous hard work and dedication farmers invest in cultivating the crops we consume daily.

The celebration reached its peak as the students performed energetic and joyful Gidda and Bhangra dances. With colorful attire and lively expressions, the boys and girls of Class V A and B brought the stage alive with Punjabi folk tunes. The grand finale saw everyone joyfully tapping their feet to the rhythmic Dhol beats, truly capturing the festive essence of Baisakhi.

The Baisakhi assembly not only celebrated a significant festival but also instilled in students a deep appreciation for Indian traditions, farmer’s contributions, and unity in diversity.

Annual Day Presentation – Class Kindergarten

The Kindergarten students of Salwan Junior School captivated the audience with their enchanting Annual Day presentation, The Secret of the Jungle, a rhythmic blend of storytelling, melodious songs, and vibrant dances.

The program commenced with a warm welcome, setting the stage for an exciting journey into a magical forest where animals talk and teach valuable life lessons. The young performers beautifully brought the jungle to life, donning colourful costumes and embodying various animals, including a peacock, elephant, deer, monkey, sparrow, and parrot. Through engaging dialogues and graceful performances, they highlighted the importance of nature, unity, and environmental conservation.

The story followed a lost child who meets friendly jungle animals, each showcasing their unique characteristics through lively rhymes and dance sequences. The animals come together to address an environmental issue—pollution caused by human negligence. The heartwarming message of sustainability and preserving forests resonated with the audience, reinforcing the significance of Sustainable Development Goal 15 (Life on Land).

The grand finale featured a lively dance performance, followed by a touching conclusion where the child, upon finding his way home, pledges to protect nature and spread awareness. The event concluded with the inspiring words, “Protect Our Jungles. Protect Our Future.”

A special thanks to our dedicated teachers, supportive parents, and, most importantly, our talented little performers who made this event a grand success. Their enthusiasm and confidence on stage truly reflected the spirit of learning through creativity.

World Heritage Day Celebrations at Salwan Junior School

To commemorate World Heritage Day, the young learners of Class IV at Salwan Junior School showcased their talent and awareness through two impactful presentations — a
heritage-themed skit titled “Guardians of Heritage”, and a creative animated audio presentation called “Notty’s Notebook Tales”.

The skit, performed during a special assembly, took the audience on a journey across some of India’s most treasured World Heritage Sites — including the Taj Mahal, Qutub Minar, Kaziranga National Park, Mahabodhi Temple, Churches of Goa, and the Mountain Railways of India. With characters like a curious tourist, a wise guide, and an engaging narrator, the students brought heritage alive with dialogues, costumes, and cultural pride.

Adding a magical touch, the animated audio featured a charming character — Notty the Notebook — who narrated a rhythmic and poetic tale set in the mountains. Through Notty’s words, students creatively explored the meaning of World Heritage Day, emphasizing the importance of protecting both our natural wonders and historical monuments.

The event was a perfect blend of creativity, awareness, and expression, highlighting the students’ understanding of culture, history, and their role as future custodians of heritage. Both presentations were warmly received by teachers and peers, leaving everyone inspired to value and preserve our shared legacy.
