Adventure Camp
Under the ‘Learning Beyond the Books’ initiative, which emphasized experiential learning and broadening students’ perspectives, SPS Gurugram organized an Adventure Camp in collaboration with Rocksport Pvt. Ltd for Grade III-V on 17th and 20th March 2025, respectively. Set in the picturesque foothills of the Aravalli at Tikkling, this outdoor adventure aimed to instill teamwork and a spirit of exploration in the students.
Throughout the camp, the students participated in a variety of thrilling activities designed to challenge their physical and mental abilities. They engaged in rock climbing, zip-lining, commando net climbing, tug-of-war, etc which tested their agility and resilience.
The adventure camp proved to be a valuable learning experience, imparting essential life skills beyond academics. Students developed self-confidence, willpower, focus and leadership qualities while overcoming obstacles and working together as a team. Exposure to outdoor survival techniques enhanced their problem-solving abilities and decision-making skills. Moreover, the camp nurtured a sense of responsibility towards nature and environmental conservation, reinforcing the importance of experiential learning in shaping well-rounded individuals ready to take on challenges with enthusiasm and determination.

Celebrating Excellence: Honouring Young Achievers
Salwan Public School, Gurugram, proudly celebrated the remarkable accomplishments of its students through a series of felicitation programmes. The events unfolded with the felicitation of the students of Grades III-IV on March 24,2025 followed by Grades V-VIII on March 28 and concluded with the recognition of Grades IX-X on March 29,2025.
Students were honoured with esteemed titles such as Mathematical Maverick, Salwan Ambassador of Goodwill, Prolific Wordsmith and more, each recognizing their dedication, intellect and diverse talents. These accolades recognised their relentless pursuit of excellence and holistic growth.
In her address, Principal Ms. Rashmi Malik congratulated the achievers and reaffirmed the school’s commitment to the National Education Policy (NEP). Preserving the Past, Shaping the Future: SPS, Gurugram Leads the #SaveTheArtisan Campaign
Salwan Public School, Gurugram, continues to lead the way in heritage education with its powerful #SaveTheArtisan campaign, initiated by the school’s Heritage Club. As part of this initiative, students of Grades VI and VII visited the National Crafts Museum & Hastkala Academy, New Delhi, on 18th and 19th March 2025 for a vibrant Heritage Walk.
The visit offered students a deep dive into India’s traditional crafts through live demonstrations, artisan interactions and thematic galleries. It brought to life the skills, stories and cultural legacy that define our nation’s artistic identity.
The school understands that education is not complete without cultural literacy and it ensures that students grow into responsible citizens who cherish and safeguard their nation’s legacy.

Embracing Experiential Learning : “No Bag Day” Initiative
Salwan Public School, Gurugram, implemented a series of “No Bag Day” events for the students of Grades III-V from 6th to 15th March 2025, aligning with the principles of the National Education Policy (NEP). These days were meticulously crafted by the school educators to provide enriching experiences tailored to the students’ developmental needs and interests.
The thoughtfully curated program focused on experiential learning through a diverse range of activities aimed at enhancing practical skills and promoting overall development. Under skill development, students explored their creativity through Pottery, Camelin Art, and the ‘Best Out of Waste’ activity, along with preparing innovative no-cook culinary delights. Interactive competitions such as the English Spell Bee and Tambola challenged their intellect and encouraged healthy academic competitions. The excursions to the Nehru Planetarium and the In-house Dome Planetarium sparked scientific curiosity and exploration. To promote physical fitness and teamwork, students participated in fun races. The initiative not only strengthened essential life skills but also fostered confidence, collaboration and a spirit of inquiry—highlighting the school’s commitment to holistic education and student well-being.

Strings of Tradition
Salwan Public School, Gurugram, reaffirmed its commitment to cultural education and artistic excellence by hosting an extraordinary Indian classical music performance on 24th March 2025 as part of the prestigious SPIC MACAY SRF Classical Series. The event took place in the school auditorium and featured an exceptional recital by Vidushi Saskia Rao-de Haas on the Indian Cello, accompanied by the talented Shri Saptak Sharma on Tabla.
The event began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp, a symbol of knowledge and enlightenment that set the tone for the soulful experience that followed. The audience, comprising students of Grades IX and X, faculty members, and SPIC MACAY coordinators, was treated to a mesmerizing journey through the rich soundscape of Indian classical music.The programme concluded with a closing address by the school Principal, Ms. Rashmi Malik.

Coffee Meet with the Principal
The Coffee Meet with the Principal for Grade II parents was held on Monday, 1st April 2025, at the School Auditorium, SPS, Gurugram, with approximately 60 parents in attendance. The session was thoughtfully designed to support a seamless transition for students moving from Salwan Montessori branch to Sector 15 branch and to familiarize parents with the institution’s educational philosophy, core values and academic framework. The Principal, Ms Rashmi Malik shared insightful perspectives on fostering independent learning, the school’s holistic approach to education, effective parenting practices and the assessment system. Emphasis was also placed on the importance of establishing consistent routines, regulating screen time and nurturing cultural values at home. An interactive Q&A segment allowed parents to voice their queries regarding transportation, curriculum design, assessments, co-curricular activities and channels of parent-teacher communication. All questions were addressed with clarity and assurance by the Principal and Headmistress. The session was well-received, with parents expressing appreciation for the open, informative and reassuring engagement.

Auspicious Hawan to Commence the Academic Year 2025–26
To mark the beginning of the academic session 2025–26, a Hawan Ceremony was conducted on campus to seek the blessings of the Almighty for the success, health and well-being of students, staff and all the stakeholders.
Held in a traditional manner, the ceremony was attended by the Principal, Vice Principal, Headmistress, Co-ordinators and two students from each section. The ritual created a serene and positive environment, fostering spiritual harmony.
The Principal addressed the gathering, highlighting the significance of starting the year with a focused and optimistic mindset.
The ceremony concluded with a prayer for collective prosperity and academic excellence, followed by distribution of prasad.

Witnessing Democracy in Action: Parliament Visit
On 3rd April 2025, an educational visit to the Parliament was organized for the Political Science students from Class XII. The objective of the visit was to provide students with a deeper understanding of the democratic process and to appreciate their Political Science subject. During the visit, students attended a live Lok Sabha session presided over by Speaker Om Birla. The session included debates on a variety of important topics, such as education, infrastructure, veteran pensions, environmental concerns and foreign policy. During Zero Hour, each MP spoke for two minutes, addressing multiple issues.
After the session, students visited the Parliament Museum, where they observed a pendulum symbolizing the passage of time and admired various historical exhibits. They also had the opportunity to meet prominent MPs, including Smt. Dimple Yadav, Smt. Lovely Anand and Smt. Kangna Ranaut.
The visit was an eye-opening and educational experience, significantly enhancing students’ understanding of the legislative process and the functioning of India’s democratic system. It inspired them to become more informed and active citizens, fostering a greater appreciation for governance and civic engagement.

Remembering the Genocide against Tutsi at Rwanda
On April 7, 2025, students from Salwan Public School, Gurugram participated in a poignant commemoration and art exhibition at Bharat Mandapam, Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, marking the 31st anniversary of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda. The event, organized by the High Commission of Rwanda in India, aimed to honour the memory of the victims and educate attendees about the atrocities committed during the 100-day massacre that claimed approximately 800,000 lives.
The exhibition featured evocative artworks created by students, depicting the horrors of the genocide and the resilience of the survivors. Through their paintings, the young artists conveyed messages of peace, unity and the importance of remembering past atrocities to prevent future ones.
Students’ participation underscored the significance of involving youth in global conversations about human rights and historical memory. Their engagement reflected a commitment to fostering empathy, awareness and a collective responsibility to stand against hatred and violence.

A Tribute to Heritage: World Heritage Day Celebration
On 19th April 2025, Salwan Public School, Gurugram, in collaboration with the Indian Trust for Rural Heritage Development, commemorated World Heritage Day with a distinguished event themed ‘Celebrate Our Roots.’ The program began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp and a prayer for blessings.
Principal Ms. Rashmi Malik delivered a compelling welcome address, emphasizing the role of heritage in fostering cultural awareness. She spotlighted the school’s Heritage Club, Upnidhi and its initiatives like the annual Hunar Mela to promote traditional craftsmanship. She also announced upcoming projects, including heritage research assignments and a Coffee Table Book celebrating regional heritage. Students were encouraged to engage in projects such as composing travelogues and exploring local monuments.
The guests of honour, Shri Tokeer Ahmed and Shri Argha Kamal Ganguly, noted heritage preservationists, were felicitated for their contributions. A graceful Classical Thumri dance performance added artistic charm to the event. The Heritage Club’s annual report was presented, highlighting its educational visits and traditional craft workshops.
The event also showcased the Second Edition of the Salwan Dialogue, a thought-provoking discussion on conserving Gurugram’s heritage amidst smart city development. Experts underscored the role of community involvement, modern technology and storytelling in preserving cultural narratives.
The program concluded with a heartfelt Vote of Thanks by Vice Principal Dr. Sunita Jakhar, who reflected on heritage as a living part of daily life. Students showcased traditional crafts through an exhibition, deepening appreciation for cultural conservation.
