Garvotsava 2024–25: Celebrating Academic Excellence
Salwan Public School, Gurugram, hosted its annual felicitation ceremony, Garvotsava 2024–25, to honour and celebrate the stellar achievements of Class X students in the CBSE Board Examinations.
The programme commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the Ms Rashmi Malik, Principal, Dr Sunita Jakhar, Vice Principal, Ms Annu Aggarwal, Class X Coordinator, and other senior faculty members, invoking divine blessings for the occasion. An invocation dance presented by the students added grace and vibrancy to the ceremony. A solemn tribute was paid to Late Shri Shiv Dutt Salwan Ji, Chairman Emeritus, whose visionary leadership and commitment to quality education continue to guide the institution.
In her address, Ms Rashmi Malik , Principal ,inspired the achievers to embrace hard work, integrity, and determination in their journey ahead, encouraging them to set new benchmarks of success.
A large number of students were recognised for their relentless efforts, while parents and teachers were commended for their steadfast support in nurturing this success.
Hunar Mela 2025: Celebrating Heritage, Honouring Artisans
Salwan Public School, Gurugram, organised a vibrant Hunar Mela on Tuesday, 05 August 2025 under the initiative ‘Save the Artisans’ of Salwan Education Trust. The event provided a platform for artisans and students to showcase their creativity, promote traditional crafts, and encourage entrepreneurial spirit among children.
The programme commenced with a melodious welcome presentation by the students, followed by the formal inauguration by the Chief Guest, Shri Sunil Bajaj, Additional Director, SCERT Haryana, who lauded the school’s efforts in preserving India’s cultural heritage and nurturing innovation among young learners. The event was also graced by the parents, adding to the celebratory spirit.
A wide array of stalls reflected the richness of Indian craftsmanship – three set up by the students of Salwan Public School, Gurugram, one by students of Government Senior Secondary School (GSSS), Gurugram, and the rest by artisans from Bihar, West Bengal, Odisha, and other states. The showcased art forms included Madhubani painting by eminent artist Shri Sujit Kumar, applique work, block printing, dari weaving, kantha embroidery, pattachitra, eco-friendly jewellery, black pottery, and handicrafts by the National Association for the Blind. These exhibits beautifully blended tradition with creativity, drawing immense admiration from visitors.
Adding to the learning experience, interactive workshops on jewellery making, pottery, weaving, Madhubani painting, and pattachitra offered students valuable hands-on opportunities under expert guidance, which they thoroughly enjoyed.
Independence Day Celebrations
Salwan Public School, Gurugram, celebrated the 79th Independence Day with patriotic fervour and heartfelt pride. The ceremony commenced with the Flag Hoisting by the Principal, followed by the National Anthem and an uplifting Western music performance. A soulful patriotic song and a stirring poem recital on Jhansi Ki Rani further enhanced the spirit of the occasion.
A proud highlight was the presence of alumni from the Batch of 2021 — Niyati Gupta, Saurabh Singh, and Aaditya Manchanda — who shared their inspiring journeys of success and credited the school for nurturing their confidence, discipline, and values.
The programme also featured a powerful speech by Samaira Bhatia, after which the Principal’s address became the keynote of the morning, reminding students of the true spirit of freedom and the importance of preserving India’s cultural heritage.
The celebrations concluded with a renewed sense of pride, gratitude, and commitment to the nation.

Celebrates India’s Heritage with Hunar Mela 2025
Salwan Public School, Ghaziabad, hosted its annual Hunar Mela on Wednesday, 06 August 2025. The event celebrated India’s rich cultural heritage by showcasing traditional craftsmanship and artistry, attracting over 1000 visitors including students, parents, and art lovers.
Talented artisans from Azamgarh and Barmer displayed a remarkable collection of handcrafted products, offering visitors a glimpse into India’s diverse crafts. The exhibition featured beautiful pottery, handwoven saris, and traditional paintings such as Madhubani, Gond, and Pattachitra. Additionally, eco-friendly jewellery from Shantiniketan and a special stall from NAB enhanced the variety.
A highlight of the event was the live demonstrations, where skilled artisans showcased their techniques, allowing visitors to witness the creation process firsthand.
The Hunar Mela 2025 was a valuable educational experience that reinforced the importance of preserving cultural heritage while promoting sustainable and artistic livelihoods. This event successfully connected the school community with India’s timeless artistry and underscored the significance of keeping these crafts alive for future generations.
Young Talents Shine at ‘Abhivyakti’ Inter-School Cultural Event
The inter-school cultural event ‘Abhivyakti’ was organised at Mayur Vihar with great enthusiasm, providing students of Classes 1 to 5 an exciting platform to showcase their creativity, confidence, and communication skills through a variety of literary and performing arts competitions.
The event featured five engaging categories:
- Class 1 – Kavita Vachan: Expressive poem recitations with perfect pronunciation.
- Class 2 – Shloka Uccaran: Devotional Sanskrit shloka renditions reflecting cultural roots.
- Class 3 – Kutputli Sang Kahani: Imaginative puppet shows bringing stories to life.
- Class 4 – Patr Charitran: Powerful portrayals of historical and fictional characters.
- Class 5 – Ekanki: Thought-provoking short plays highlighting relevant social themes.
A proud moment for SPS Tronnica came when Riddhima secured the Second Position in Shloka Uccaran (Class 2) and Nehal Jha clinched the First Position in Patr Charitran (Class 4). These achievements stand as a testament to the students’ dedication, teachers’ guidance, and the school’s commitment to excellence.
‘Abhivyakti’ concluded as a memorable celebration of talent, culture, and creativity, leaving an enduring impact on participants and spectators alike.
Celebrating India’s Rich Handcrafted Legacy: A Pre-Independence Day Craft Exhibition
To mark Pre-Independence Day, Salwan Public School, Mayur Vihar, in collaboration with the Indian Trust for Rural Heritage and Development (ITRHD), organised a Craft Demonstration and Exhibition on Friday, 08 August 2025. The event celebrated India’s cultural diversity through the artistry of potters from Nizamabad, Kantha and eco-jewellery artists from Santiniketan, Madhubani and Gond painters, and weavers from Mubarakpur. A special showcase of work by visually impaired women artisans reflected resilience and creativity. Inaugurated by Dr Kanika Sood, Oncologist, Dharamshila Narayana Hospital, the exhibition promoted sustainability and rural livelihoods. Students actively managed stalls, engaged with artisans, and explored crafts through interactive workshops.

Dharohar 2025: Celebrating the Spirit of Indian Heritage
The Salwan Heritage Club – Upnidhi hosted ‘Dharohar’, an inter-school competition, on 13th August 2025 at Salwan Public School, Gurugram. The event was a tribute to India’s glorious cultural legacy, inspiring young learners to explore, appreciate, and express traditions through diverse forms of art and creativity.
Students showcased their skills, which beautifully reflected the richness of Indian heritage. The outstanding artistic contributions brought laurels to the school:
• Charvi Gupta (Class VII) secured the Third Position in ‘Rang Chakra: Dot Mandala Art with Indian Motifs’.
• Aditya Negi (Class XII) achieved the First Prize in “Miniature Memoirs: Postcards from India (Miniature Painting).”
‘Dharohar 2025’ highlighted the need to preserve and cherish this heritage for generations to come.
Hunar Mela – A Celebration of India’s Artistic Legacy
Salwan Public School, Rajendra Nagar, hosted Hunar Mela, on 07 August 2025, an exhibition of colours, culture, and creativity, in collaboration with the Indian Trust for Rural Heritage and Development under the Save the Artisans initiative.
The exhibition was a rich tapestry of India’s traditional crafts, from the intricate strokes of Madhubani and Patachitra paintings to eco-jewellery, Kantha embroidery, ethnic sarees, dupattas, batik work, ceramic pottery, pottery with religious significance, and the elegant black pottery of Azamgarh. Adding to its charm, the NAB India Centre for Blind Women and Disability Studies presented beautiful creations that reflected both skill and inclusivity, including weaving with straws, making charms, earrings and bracelets, dori work, rakhi making, and potlis.
Showcasing entrepreneurial zeal, students from the Business Blasters Club marketed eco-friendly products. A key attraction was the series of interactive workshops where students learned traditional art forms firsthand from master artisans. The event was a strong initiative towards preserving heritage, empowering artisans, and inspiring the next generation to carry forward India’s artistic legacy.
