Honouring Excellence: A Celebration of Legacy and Vision
Salwan Public School, Gurugram, proudly hosted a Felicitation Ceremony on December 28, 2024, reflecting a profound reverence for the legacy of the past and an unwavering commitment to building a brighter future.
The event commenced with Smt. Rashmi Malik, Principal of Salwan Public School, extending a heartfelt welcome to the distinguished dignitaries. Her address paid tribute to towering personalities whose legacies illuminate India’s path: Chairman Emeritus Late Shri Shiv Dutt Salwan Ji, former Prime Minister Late Shri Manmohan Singh Ji, Late Shri Ratan Tata Ji, and Late Dr. Zakir Hussain Ji.

The proceedings began with a serene Ganesh Vandana, invoking divine blessings for an auspicious and harmonious event. The parent choir enchanted the gathering with a soulful performance that set a harmonious tone. The timeless art of Daastan-e-Goi unfolded, narrating the illustrious journey of the Salwan Education Trust. This poetic tribute celebrated the visionary leadership of Shri Girdhari Lal Ji, whose unyielding dedication to education, equality, and service remains a beacon of inspiration.

Shri V.K. Garg, Chairperson of Salwan Boys School and former IRS officer, delivered an enlightening address. Reflecting on India’s economic resurgence post-1991 reforms, he celebrated the nation’s ascent as the 5th largest global economy. Shri Garg extolled Late Shri Shiv Dutt Salwan Ji, whose transformative journey from adversity to magnanimity serves as an enduring testament to resilience and vision.
He also honoured the armed forces and Padma awardees, emphasizing their valour and dedication. Shri Garg urged students to cultivate critical thinking and resilience, empowering them to navigate the complexities of the modern world.

The ceremony honoured Veer Naris the wives of Shaurya Chakra Naib Subedar Sombir Singh , Saurya Chakra Hari Singh, Sharya Chakra Sepoy Vikram Singh and mother of Fifleman Devinder Singh, Padma Shri awardees Shree Ashok Kumar Biswas, Ms. Purniuma Mehto, Ms. Taqdira Begum and Shri Kamaljeet Singh Virji along with his team for their humanitarian initiative, Veer Ji Da Dera. The school community showcased its values of compassion and service by donating 1,200 kg of lentils and ₹25,000 in medical aid.
A poignant moment of pride was the felicitation of Syed Abdul Raheem Ji, the legendary coach and manager of the Indian football team, whose leadership brought glory at the 1951 Delhi and 1962 Jakarta Asian Games. The prestigious Randhawa Award was presented to Dr. Shilpa Raghuwanshi, PGT Biotechnology, for her outstanding contributions to education and innovation.

In his inspirational address, Shri Sushil Dutt Salwan, Chairman of Salwan Education Trust, emphasized the sacrifices of Veer Naris and soldiers, lauding their unflinching devotion to the nation. He honoured Late Shri Shiv Dutt Salwan Ji and Ratan Tata Ji for their monumental contributions to nation-building.
Shri Salwan urged students to uphold the values of humanity, service, and sacrifice, preparing to face challenges posed by artificial intelligence and societal complexities. He called upon teachers to instil unity and compassion, fostering a generation dedicated to service and progress.

In an inspiring celebration of creativity, culture, and craftsmanship, Salwan Public School hosted the Hunar Mela on December 28, 2024. This vibrant event honoured the exceptional artisans of Nizamabad, Mubarakpur, Bihar, West Bengal, and Rajasthan, showcasing their traditional skills and celebrating their invaluable contributions to India’s rich cultural heritage.
The Hunar Mela was a confluence of artistry and tradition, bringing together a diverse array of crafts, including:
- Black Pottery from Nizamabad
- Silk Zari Fabrics from Mubarakpur
- Tikuli& Madhubani Arts from Bihar.
- Kantha Embroidery and Eco-Friendly Jewelleries from West Bengal
- Batik Prints from Rajasthan
The event aimed to celebrate these craftsmen, whose hands preserve the soul of our Indian culture, and to inspire a new generation to cherish and sustain these timeless traditions.
