Reflection Through Art: Educational Visit to Bharat Mandapam

Students of SPS RN visited an exhibition at Bharat Mandapam commemorating the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda. The powerful displays highlighted the impact of hatred and the importance of peace and coexistence.
Students also shared interpretations of their own artworks, engaging in meaningful discussions. The visit was insightful and left a lasting impression on their understanding of global issues and harmony.

CBSE CPD on “ Promoting Mental Health and Wellness among students”

A Capacity Building Programme on ‘Promoting Mental Health and Wellness among students’ was organised on Monday, 2nd March 2026, at JJ Hall, Salwan Public School, Rajendra Nagar for the teachers. The session was led by two distinguished resource persons-Ms. Neetu Jhatta (Principal- Wishwood Cottage) and Dr. Ritu Aggarwal (PGT- Jagganath International School). The workshop focused on understanding the need to promote mental health and emotional well-being among students in today’s academic environment.

The resource persons were accorded a green welcome by Ms. Priyanka Barara, Principal, who in her address emphasised the growing responsibility of educators in fostering a supportive atmosphere. She highlighted the importance of encouraging open expression and nurturing students’ emotional resilience.

The participants explored practical ways to help students develop healthy coping strategies and bring about positive behavioural changes. The workshop stressed upon the importance of healthy mental wellness as unwanted thoughts can cause anxiety, phobia, and depression among students which can affect their daily life and learning.

The sessions engaged the participants into collaborative activities and hands-on demonstrations. The resource person discussed healthy coping strategies, reinforcing that students are not alone in their feelings and making students believe that support is always available around them.

Strategies like think-pair-share, active listening, self-expression, therapies integration with music and art, peer support system,mindfulness breaks, meditation and PRASHAST screening were discussed with the teachers.

The key takeaway was the importance of creating a supportive system in school where students feel safe to express themselves and seek help  without hesitation. The session was highly informative, insightful, and transformative for all participants.

CBSE Capacity Building Workshop on ‘Storytelling as a Pedagogy’

Salwan Public School, Rajendra Nagar, New Delhi hosted a CBSE Capacity Building Workshop on ‘Storytelling as a Pedagogy’on 2 March 2026. The workshop aimed to equip educators with innovative strategies to integrate storytelling as an interdisciplinary tool in the teaching – learning process.

The sessions were conducted by Ms Sonia Wadhwa, Headmistress, Salwan Junior School, Naraina, and Ms Bakshish Madaan, PGT Physics, Guru Harkrishan Public School, Nanak Piao. Through engaging discussions, multimedia examples, and collaborative activities, teachers explored the elements of storytelling, its role in fostering empathy and critical thinking, and its integration across subjects. Participants also designed story-based lesson plans, translating theory into classroom practice.

The workshop proved to be an enriching experience, highlighting storytelling as a powerful medium for meaningful and engaging learning.

CBSE Capacity Building Workshop on “Storytelling as a Pedagogy”

Salwan Public School, Rajendra Nagar, organised a CBSE Capacity Building Workshop on ‘Storytelling as a Pedagogy’ on 5 March 2026. The workshop aimed to introduce teachers to innovative ways of integrating storytelling into the teaching-learning process.

The session was conducted by Dr. Meenakshi Gupta, Principal, S.D. Public School, Patel Nagar, and Ms. Neha Jain, PGT, Brain International School, Vikas Puri. Through interactive activities, participants shared personal experiences and explored visual storytelling by illustrating and identifying well-known stories.

The facilitators highlighted the importance of storytelling in enhancing students’ critical thinking, creativity, communication, and emotional understanding. Various forms of storytelling – oral, written, visual, digital, and through performing arts – were discussed as effective classroom strategies.

The workshop concluded with a hands-on activity in which teachers designed subject-specific lesson plans integrating storytelling techniques across different subjects.

The workshop was highly enriching and provided practical strategies to make classroom learning more engaging and meaningful.

CBSE Capacity Building Programme on Learning Outcomes & Pedagogies

Salwan Public School, Rajendra Nagar organised a CBSE workshop on “Learning Outcomes and Pedagogies,” led by Ms. Moninder Pal Kaur and Dr. Kshama Swarnkar, Resource Persons from CBSE. The session emphasised outcome-based learning aligned with NEP 2020, focusing on framing clear, measurable learning outcomes using Bloom’s Taxonomy and the SVO–SMART approach across cognitive, affective, and psychomotor domains.

Teachers were engaged in the Teaching-Learning Cycle – defining outcomes, aligning instructional practices, assessing learning, and reflecting for improvement. The workshop highlighted innovative, learner-centred pedagogies through the 3 I’s – Interaction, Interest, and Innovation – and reinforced the importance of inclusive and joyful classrooms.

A key focus was on integrating the 7 C’s of 21st-century competencies through inquiry-based learning, project-based tasks, collaboration, communication, value-based education, and real-life connections, along with age-appropriate computational thinking.

The interactive sessions, supported by activities and demonstrations, equipped educators with practical strategies to enhance engagement, address diverse learner needs, and strengthen effective classroom practices.

Class Orientation Programmes 2026

The school conducted Orientation Programmes for various classes to ensure a smooth start to the academic session 2026–27. The Nursery (Balvatika I) orientation was held on 17 March 2026, welcoming parents and introducing them to the school’s environment, policies, and daily routines. Additionally, the Class V Graduation Ceremony held on 12 March 2026 marked an important milestone.

The Orientation Programmes for Classes VI, VII, and VIII were organised on 24 March, 25 March, and 27 March 2026 respectively, focusing on academic structure, assessment patterns, and holistic development. The Class IX orientation on 28 March 2026 familiarised parents and students with curriculum expectations, school policies, and co-curricular opportunities. The Class XI orientation, conducted on 6 April 2026, highlighted the transition to senior secondary education with emphasis on NEP 2020 and competency-based learning. The orientation sessions strengthened the school-parent partnership and set a positive tone for the year ahead.

Visit to the Traffic Training Park

The school organised an educational visit to the Traffic Training Park.,BKS Marg for students of Classes II and III on 10th and 11th April 2026.The young learners explored real-life road situations and gained hands-on experience about traffic rules, road signs, and the importance of being responsible pedestrians. From understanding zebra crossings to learning the meaning of traffic signals, the visit was both fun and informative. The students actively participated, asked questions, and applied what they learned in a practical setting. Experiences like these help build awareness and shape responsible citizens of tomorrow. Students enjoyed the day full of learning, laughter, and life lessons.

Workshop on Classroom Communication that Boosts Confidence and Participation

A workshop on “Classroom Communication that Boosts Confidence and Participation” was organised for teachers of Salwan Public School on 25th April 2026. The session was conducted by Dr. Aprajita Khanna, Consultant Clinical Psychologist (RCI Registered), Child & Adolescent Psychologist, and Family Counsellor, with over ten years of experience in the field of mental health.

The focus of the workshop was on how classroom communication can help build student confidence and increase participation. The session was practical and interactive, with teachers taking part in group discussions, case studies, and role plays. These activities gave teachers a chance to reflect on their own communication styles and learn simple ways to make students feel more comfortable speaking in class.

Dr. Khanna spoke about the importance of listening to students, using encouraging language, and creating a classroom where students are not afraid to make mistakes. She also shared useful strategies to involve quieter students and handle common classroom situations more effectively.

The session concluded with a question-answer round, where teachers discussed real classroom challenges and received helpful suggestions. The workshop was well-received by the teachers as it provided practical ideas that can be easily used in the classroom to improve student confidence and participation.

Where Vision Led, Excellence Followed

Salwan Public School, Gurugram, marked the superannuation of its esteemed Principal, Ms. Rashmi Malik, on Friday, April 10, 2026, through a ceremony imbued with grace, dignity, and deep reverence. The occasion gently drew the curtain on an illustrious chapter defined by visionary leadership, unwavering commitment, and a lasting influence on the institution’s academic and cultural fabric.

The ceremony was graced by the school Chairman Dr. Prasad Medury, Director Maj. Gen. Surinder Singh, AVSM, SM, VSM (Retd.), along with trustees, members of the Management Committee, Heads of sister institutions, and faculty, all gathered in admiration of her exemplary service. Thoughtfully curated tributes, including a ceremonial planter presentation, a melodious musical offering, and a reflective audio-visual montage, beautifully encapsulated the depth of her journey and the legacy she so gracefully leaves behind. In her valedictory address, Ms. Malik shared heartfelt reflections, expressing sincere gratitude and reaffirming her enduring bond with the Salwan fraternity, leaving the audience deeply moved. Her superannuation marks a significant milestone, as she becomes the first Principal to retire from this distinguished office, having led with foresight, integrity, and a steadfast pursuit of excellence. The ceremony concluded with a commemorative group photograph, capturing a moment of collective respect and gratitude. Ms. Rashmi Malik’s legacy will continue to illuminate the path ahead, inspiring generations to uphold the values of excellence, purpose, and quiet distinction.

Workshop on Simple Nutrition & Lifestyle Habits for Better Energy and Hormonal Health

“Good nutrition and mindful living are not just habits—they are the foundation of energy, balance, and a healthier life. Small daily choices create lasting well-being.”

 A workshop on “Simple Nutrition & Lifestyle Habits for Better Energy & Hormonal Health” was conducted for the teaching staff by Ms. Pakhi Gupta, Clinical Nutritionist and Dietitian. The session focused on building awareness about the direct relationship between daily food choices, lifestyle patterns, energy levels, and hormonal balance—particularly in the context of busy professional schedules.

The workshop highlighted practical and sustainable strategies such as balanced meal structuring, adequate protein intake, hydration management, mindful snacking, sleep hygiene, and stress regulation. Emphasis was placed on understanding common energy crashes, cravings, and hormonal fluctuations, and how simple dietary modifications can significantly improve overall well-being and productivity.

Teachers actively engaged in discussions around realistic meal planning within school routines and strategies to maintain consistency despite demanding schedules. The session reinforced that small, consistent lifestyle adjustments can lead to improved metabolic health, enhanced focus, and long-term physical resilience.
