Visit to Kiran Nadar Museum of Arts

Students from classes VII and VIII visited the Kiran Nadar Museum of Arts, Saket to explore ‘The Elemental You exhibition’ on 12 November, 2024. Curated by Akansha Rastogi, curator of exhibitions and programming at the Kiran Nadar Museum of Arts , the exhibition featured works by eminent artisits, Simryn Gill, Neha Choksi, and Hajra Waheed, focusing on the relationship between humans and the Earth. The students walked through the exhibition and participated in workshops that deepened their understanding of the art and its themes. 

Outstanding Achievements in Vidyarthi Vigyan Manthan 2024-25

Salwan Public School, Rajendra Nagar, celebrates the remarkable achievement of its students in the Vidyarthi Vigyan Manthan (VVM) District Level Winners 2024-25 (Central District).  Among the District winners, four outstanding students – Rivansh Gupta (VII F), Viraj Khemchandani (VII G), Garv Kumar (X G), and Saksham Bidani (XI A) – qualified for the VVM State Level Camp on 12 January, 2025. Their success reflects their hard work, perseverance, and keen interest in scientific pursuits. 

A special mention goes to Saksham Bidani of Class XI A, who has made the school proud by securing the Third Position in the State Level Camp. His commendable achievement earned him a cash prize of ₹2,000 at the event held at the National Science Museum, Pragati Maidan. 

The success of our outstanding students serves as an inspiration to their peers, encouraging them to explore the world of science with curiosity and determination. 

Utpatti Se Virasat Tak: A Journey of Heritage and Excellence

Salwan Public School hosted the special Class Presentation by the students of classes VII and VIII, Utpatti Se Virasat Tak: A Legacy that Inspires, celebrating the timeless connection between our origins and cultural heritage. The event, held on February 4, 2025, was graced by esteemed dignitaries, which included Guest of Honour and distinguished alumnus Dr.Neeraj Awasthy, along with Shri Vijay S. Bishnoi, Shri Vineet Bharara, Shri Shivam Raj and Shri Tarun Ujla. The programme commenced with a warm welcome, followed by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, signifying wisdom and knowledge. The Principal, Smt Priyanka Barara, addressed the gathering, emphasising the significance of preserving heritage while embracing progress. 

A mesmerizing ‘Sun Procession’ performance showcased the life-giving force of Surya, followed by an inspiring yoga display that reflected discipline and inner balance. Gymnastics performances exhibited strength, agility, and perseverance, reinforcing the event’s theme of resilience. The audience was captivated by traditional dances, including Arunachal Pradesh’s vibrant folk dance, the expressive Chhau dance, and the dynamic Thaiyam dance from Kerala, each celebrating cultural heritage. A powerful self-defence demonstration underscored the importance of empowerment and protection. Students who excelled in co-curricular activities, academics, inter-school competitions, and DOE events were awarded for their outstanding performances, adding a moment of pride and motivation to the occasion. 

The event concluded with a grand finale, where all participants paid tribute to the journey from Utpatti (creation) to Virasat (legacy). The Guest of Honour, Dr. Neeraj Awasthy, shared his inspiring insights, and emphasised that parents who maintain close communication with their children and talk to them regularly nurture happier and stress-free individuals. 

The Vice Principal, Smt Jyotsna Grover, delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all dignitaries, participants, and organisers for making the event a grand success. 

The class presentation was a memorable event, reinforcing the school’s commitment to holistic development, cultural appreciation, and excellence in education. The event left a lasting impact, inspiring students and audience to cherish their heritage while striving for greatness.

Student Council Initiative: NGO Visits and Donation Drive

The Student Council of Salwan Public School, conducted a Donation Drive through NGO visits on January 4, 2025. The drive reflected the school community’s spirit of compassion and collective responsibility. The staff, students and their families generously contributed food, stationery, toiletries, and ration supplies, which were distributed to various NGOs. 

The day began with serving Langar and participating in ‘Patti Seva’ at New Delhi Railway Station in collaboration with NGO ‘Guru ka Langar’, followed by visits to a shelter home near Bangla Sahib Gurudwara and Bal Sahyog, an NGO supporting vulnerable children. This initiative not only provided aid but also instilled values of empathy and service in students.

Proud Achievement in Mukhyamantri Vigyan Pratibha Pariksha (MVPP)

The school is delighted to share that Rudraksh Prasad Sah of Class IX C has successfully qualified for the Mukhyamantri Vigyan Pratibha Pariksha (MVPP) Scholarship for the academic year 2024-25 on 17 February,2025. 

This remarkable achievement is a testament to Rudraksh’s hard work, dedication, and passion for science. The MVPP Scholarship, a notable initiative by the Directorate of Education, aims to recognise and nurture young scientific talent, providing students with the opportunity to further excel in their academic journey. 

Mathematics SDG Showcase : Learning Maths in an Interactive Way

The Mathematics Department of Salwan Public School, Rajendra Nagar, organised an engaging Mathematics SDG Display on 24 December, 2024, offering students a creative platform to explore the interdisciplinary nature of mathematics. 

The exhibition featured unique displays such as Optical Illusions, Warli Art with Geometric Concepts, Curve Stitching, Nets of Platonic Solids, and Origami-crafted Mathematical Solids, showcasing the real-world applications of mathematical concepts and their integration with art. 

An exciting Gaming Zone captivated students from Classes VI, VII, and IX with interactive activities like Factor Multiple Ring Toss, Spin the Wheel, Mathletics Thunder, and the Flip24 Quest Challenge, fostering problem-solving skills and teamwork.  

Class VIII students enjoyed a fun-filled Mathematical Tambola session, solving math-based questions to win prizes. 

The event reinforced mathematical concepts while promoting creativity, critical thinking, and a love for learning, inspiring students to view mathematics as both practical and enjoyable. 

Hawan Ceremony for students appearing for Board Examination

A Hawan Ceremony was organised by Salwan Public School, Rajendra Nagar on 10th February 2025 to invoke divine blessings for the students appearing for Classes X and XII Board Examinations. The sacred ritual aimed to instill positivity, focus, and confidence among the students as they embark on this significant academic journey. 

The ceremony was graced by the presence of Major General Sanjeev Shukla, VSM (Retd.) – Director, Salwan Public School, Ms. Priyanka Barara, Principal, and Ms. Jyotsna Grover, Vice Principal. Their words of encouragement and wisdom motivated the students, reinforcing the values of perseverance and dedication. 

The Hawan created a spiritually uplifting atmosphere, fostering a sense of peace and reassurance among students, teachers, and parents. Through the ceremony the school extended its heartfelt wishes to all students for success in their upcoming examinations. 

Swarnim Bharat: Rising Together, Shining Forever Class Presentation (Classes I & II)

The students of Classes I & II brought history, culture, and creativity to life through their spectacular class presentation, “Swarnim Bharat: Rising Together, Shining Forever,” held on 22nd February 2025 in the school grounds. 

The event commenced with a lamp-lighting ceremony by the Chief Guest, Commander Navneet S. Nagi (Indian Navy, Retd.), an esteemed alumnus of the 1993 batch of Salwan Public School. He also inaugurated a heritage exhibition, which showcased intricately designed models, traditional cuisine, creatively dressed dolls, handicrafts, jewellery, and masks representing India’s diverse states. 

The performances were a vibrant tribute to India’s cultural richness, featuring graceful folk dances, a powerful street play on environmental conservation, and an inspiring act by children with special needs, symbolizing inclusivity and resilience. The young achievers of Classes I & II were also felicitated for their dedication and excellence. Principal Smt. Priyanka Barara expressed gratitude to parents and emphasised the role of a nurturing environment in helping children reach their full potential. 

The grand finale was a heart-warming and inspiring moment, beginning with a spectacular performance by children with special needs, who showcased their incredible talent and determination. Their performance was met with admiration and applause before all participants joined in, creating a mesmerising display of unity, inclusivity, and national pride. The sight of all students performing together symbolised the essence of “Swarnim Bharat”. 

In his address, Commander Nagi appreciated the school’s commitment to holistic education, encouraging students to embrace confidence, creativity, and leadership in their journey ahead. He encouraged the young students to embrace the values of fear, happiness, and creativity in their journey of life. He emphasised that such events shape future leaders by enhancing communication skills, boosting self-expression, and instilling a sense of belonging. 

The event left a lasting impact, inspiring young minds to take pride in their heritage and work towards a brighter future. 

Class Presentation (III & IV) Rangā-Sarasā-Bhāratam (India: A Palette of Colours and Emotions)

The Classes III & IV presentation, Rangā-Sarasā-Bhāratam (India: A Palette of Colours and Emotions), was held on 15th February 2025 in the school grounds, with great enthusiasm. The event witnessed the presence of distinguished guests and proud parents, creating an atmosphere of celebration and pride.  

The programme was graced by the school’s alumni from the 2014 batch – Shri Dhruv Kumar (Marketing Analyst), Ms. Garima Kapoor (Manager – Design and Coordination, DLF), and our special guest, Ms. Nupur Gohri (Analyst, Niti Ayog). The event commenced with the traditional Prayer and Lamp Lighting Ceremony, marking an auspicious start. 

Major General Sanjeev Shukla, VSM (Retd.), Director SPSRN, delivered an inspiring welcome address, highlighting the importance of cultural heritage and the role of young minds in preserving and celebrating it. Following his address, Smt Priyanka Barara, Principal shared her thoughts on the importance of holistic education and how such cultural programmes nurture students’ creativity, confidence, and appreciation for India’s rich traditions. 

The event showcased the rich diversity of India through vibrant performances by the students, celebrating India’s rich cultural diversity. From the energetic beats of Bhangra and Gidda to the rhythmic grace of Lavani, Bihu, Dandiya, Kathak, and Bharat Natyam, each performance reflected the unique spirit of different regions. The beauty of Jammu and Kashmir was also highlighted through a beautiful performance. A captivating tribute to the beauty of Jammu and Kashmir added to the cultural mosaic. The young performers left the audience mesmerised with their enthusiasm, talent, and confidence. 

The young achievers were acknowledged for their accomplishments in academics, sports, and extracurricular activities, acknowledging their hard work and dedication by the distinguished guests. In addition, STEM club projects, developed over the academic year, were showcased, offering parents a glimpse into the students’ creativity and innovation. 

In their address to the young students, the distinguished guests commended the efforts of the students and teachers for organising such a memorable event. They encouraged students to continue exploring their talents. The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Smt Rashi Oberoi, Headmistress, expressing gratitude to everyone who contributed to the success of the programme. 

Rangā-Sarasā-Bhāratam stood as a vibrant celebration of India’s cultural heritage and the incredible talent of young learners. It was a reflection of the school’s commitment to nurturing creativity, national pride, and unity, making the event a grand success. 

Utkarsh – Unleashing Potential Class Presentation (Class V)

The students of Class V of Salwan Public School put up a grand show, ‘Utkarsh – Unleashing Potential’, displaying creativity and talent, on 21st February 2025, in the school grounds. The presentation had 100% participation of students, and was witnessed by an esteemed audience that included illustrious alumni as distinguished guests and worthy parents. The highlights of the event were a soul-stirring presentation of Mandala Yoga, an energetic Lezim display and a mesmerising Qawwali performance. The students who brought laurels to the school in various competitions were also felicitated.  

The event held special significance as it marked the completion of a major milestone –  students graduating from Primary School to Middle School. The young learners proudly received their graduation certificates shining bright in their graduation caps, with stars in their eyes. 

On this occasion Maj. Gen. Sanjeev Shukla, Director SPS RN, urged parents to be good role models for their children leading to positive character building. He emphasised that children learn better by emulating and not just by listening or reading. Smt. Priyanka Barara, Principal, in her address reinforced the significance of appreciation and motivation as imperative actions towards confidence-building and emotional wellness among students. 

The special guests for the event, Ms. Jayati Varma, Product Lead for Google Ads and Mr. Ankur Arora, Director of Development (South Asia), Radisson Hotel Group, both alumni from Batch of 2007, recounted their experiences from school days and appreciated the productive changes that have been included in the school system over the years. They congratulated the students for their remarkable performances and motivated them to cherish each experience of school life as they would have a profound influence in shaping their personalities. Smt. Rashi Oberoi, Headmistress, moved the vote of thanks, emphasising an effective parent-teacher partnership that could work wonders for the holistic development of the students.  

The event was a celebration of growth, learning, and achievement, inspiring the young learners to step into the next chapter of their academic journey with confidence and enthusiasm. 

Salwanians excel in Aryabhatta Ganit Challenge (AGC) 2024

The school feels delighted to share the remarkable achievement of the students in the Aryabhatta Ganit Challenge (AGC) 2024, organized by CBSE on 20 December, 2024. This national-level talent search exam aims to promote an aptitude for mathematics and logical reasoning among students of Classes VIII to X. 

Krishang Sachdeva (X B) and Jayesh Goyal (X A) secured positions among the top 100 students in the Delhi West region, demonstrating their analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and mathematical proficiency. 

Their hard work and dedication continue to uphold the legacy of excellence at Salwan Public School.
