Shri Inder Dutt Salwan, an architect by profession, heads Salwan Furnishing Co., a firm specializing in furniture manufacturing and providing interior design consultancy services. Salwan Furnishing Co. has established a strong reputation for delivering complete turnkey solutions for leading hospitality and educational institutions across India. Beyond architecture, Mr. Salwan is a passionate sports enthusiast. He holds the distinction of being the chief architect behind the Salwan Marathon, recognized as the world’s largest running event for school children. A firm believer in the power of running, Mr. Salwan envisioned the marathon in 1995 as a way to motivate students to get active and experience the joy of running outside the confines of classrooms. From its humble beginnings with just 300 participants in 1995, the Salwan Marathon has grown exponentially. 

The 2019 edition witnessed an impressive participation of over 52,000 students from across the nation, solidifying its position as the world’s largest run. This remarkable feat has also earned the event a well-deserved place in the Limca Book of Records as the largest children’s race. Further demonstrating its inclusivity, the Salwan Marathon incorporates a special race designed specifically for visually impaired and differently abled students. This unique feature sets it apart as the only race in the world catering to visually impaired participants. An alumnus of Sherwood College, Nainital, Mr. Salwan’s interests extend beyond architecture and sports. He holds a strong belief in the positive impact of sports beyond athletic competition. This conviction has led him to actively collaborate with various stakeholders on the development of comprehensive sports programs for schools.
